Yeah, you wanna do the honors? Listen, I think this thing's gonna be heartbeat. We're setting a high extra casual warm up. Eighties turkey. Yeah. It's it's a tough benchmark. But it but it's the lowest proof. Yeah. Yeah. You know, lowest proof to warm up with and we can kick that. I have another I'm not being that guy. We'll let you decide that. Yeah. You have another one? No. Yeah. Kick it. What's one more sip amongst friends? So there was an estate sale and he had six of those. Just sit around. It's gonna be my house one like twenty years from now. Like this Yeah, Bob doesn't even drink. It's just the stuff that yeah. It's gonna be all the random stuff sitting around the basement. Does have very s sweet, dusty nose to it. Yeah. It's crazy. So this one would be pure Jimmy, right? Pure I cause I don't know. Yeah, eighty three. well if we're talking twenty twenty six is forty five years for Eddie. So it'd be close. Eddie would have it's it overlaps the time there, but yeah, you would you would have to think that this is mostly I mean, you when you listen to the stories of what Jimmy made Eddie Do just you know earn his stripes, yeah. You know, so he probably carried case of this cases of this in the way. He was rolling he was rolling barrels at that day. Yeah. ready for this. That was good. Yeah, after Michael and I came from a band show. so Wyatt and Asher played in the Springfield band. You taught Boardman, right? Boardman is here. Yeah. So Michael is a trumpet professor. Okay. I've I've gotten into that one and it's got some power to it and have a feeling the the sixteen is as well. So that's good though. I just love that aftertaste, that caramel, nice and sweet. I just wanna know how there was six of them and you only walked away with two, though. You know, that's that would have been that would have been that would have been yeah. That would have been He found out that they were worth something Yeah just before Dan walked in. Turkey on the shelves. Forty bucks a pop, yeah. You sure you want this old one? They got new ones. So So the reason we went to that estate sale is it was an auction is because he had a player grand piano for sale. And I wanted to bid on the piano, but I wanted to go play it first because I I just wanted to go see that it was okay. And so we get there and here they've also had some this table. some barrel furniture. I'm like, barrel furniture. So I got well, not all of it. I just just this table and two chairs. Yeah. Steph found some of the other stuff. All all the other stuff. That chair. I I remember carrying it all in. Yeah. So so I'm like, you didn't say anything about the wild turkey. Right. Yeah, he really did actually. Go carry some furniture for me. It's heavy barrels. So I asked him, I'm like, so your dad had a bar and you must have like bourbon. You have any old bourbons? He's like He's like, I got a bunch. And Tried to hide his excitement. So So he he opened his cupboards and he's like, What do want? And then he's like, and there are cases of stuff down in the basement. So I go down the basement and that's when, you know. That was there was like six wild turkeys and six Canadian clubs and like you know, there's all all sorts of stuff, but Yeah. And the old granddad's. The half gallon and the the four fifths. It makes you wonder what like thirty years from now things that are just shelters are going to be exact your ex that's exactly what this is. I mean it's Yeah. But that's the low barrel entry proof. Yeah. Well, you know, it's it yeah. But is it gonna be different forty years from now? I I agree with this. This it might be all synthetic forty years from now. Who knows? Y c or d maybe we ran out of white oak and all of a sudden what the we can Yeah. I think that's gonna be the other side of this or if and they keep saying that, you know, even Preston said they were losing more and more every year because of the hotter Temperatures. Yeah. Twenty twenty-three release. I think it's like twelve, fourteen, and fifteen year blend, something like that off the top of my head. That's a heavy line. I was gonna say you can have this back. He poured you the same glass dry. No. No, there's less. There's less less. Alright, shame me for being generous. That's this is honey. that's nice. Yeah. Yeah, so all three on this one. Jimmy, Eddie, and Bruce. So you're kind of getting a bit of a cross section here on on all three of these. Do we know where these ones were kept? Not it, which No, you know, we were talking about that the other night when we were doing the first few of the master's keeps. they don't they don't say And like back then, I mean you even remember we were saying like some of the old like private select bottles, like it always just used to say like warehouse A. So we're like, what is that? Camp Nelson A, Tyrone A is it, you know, but the says number A. yeah, I think actually it says number, yeah, they say number A or whatever it is. that's got a fantastic nose. Nice oak. Yeah. Did you guys you d did do this one the other night? No. No. So that's what I said, this is technically not in that master's keep line. kinda planning this one out. We said we'd do it tonight. Wow. I like that. Like a lot of like darker molasses compared to the citrus. Yeah. Yeah, I think you do you kinda it does. I mean it has, you know. It's like a dark citrus. It's I I you know, I I I like like a blood orange. It's like c citrus, is that what the force is? You definitely kind of can tell there's a little bit of older whiskey in there. Yeah, it's You kinda get some of that you kinda get some of that spice too, which would be the you know, kind of Jimmy's thing and older whiskey being. Nine, twelve, fourteen, and fifteen year old is what it says. Okay, yeah. I think I said something like that. Yeah. Yeah. So it wasn't too far off. Yeah. Yes, I mean it's but it's also that's a well I mean that's not a young bottle. Yeah, that's that is so good. Cool bottle. Yeah, for being such a like simple looking bottle, it's very refined. Well that's it. Take the we're talking about it because the masters keep have those same toppers. Like you pull that topper off. It's like a solid it's like a solid like brass or a I don't know what it is. Yeah. right. It's got kind of those Frank August. Yeah, those are those ones are like yeah. Like those dark arts ones that have those big heavy glass toppers. Yeah. I I saw I said this the other night we were talking to and I I think Generations is one of the more complex turkeys out there. I think you do you kinda get a lot of there's some there's some rye spice in there, there's some of those deeper, darker notes in there. But there is some bright notes on top of it. Exactly. Like it's it's very I feel like it's very it's very complex. Like there's it kinda hits a few different angles. Yeah. Like it's the initial darkness. Then it goes bright and then it goes back to sweet in the back of the throat. It's like it's like it evolves as you're dissolving on your tongue almost. That's that's a good bourbon. A little bit of the Kentucky hug. Yeah, you get a little hug. Yeah. It's got a little heat there. What was the proof on it? I know you said it earlier one Think it says on the neck tag but one twenty point eight point twenty. Still good though. That's fantastic. Look at the bottles. Look at Bob. close up the bottles. That's exactly what we need in this world. Mm. So that's nice. That was a healthy pour, wasn't it? Yeah. Just just getting you guys lubed up. Yeah. We got some stags to do tonight. We're gonna be here a while. wow. The nose keeps growing on me, I think. That's one of the things that it's really, really nice. And the mouthfeel it's like chewy. It's got that just stays. finish. Yeah. I agree. It does. Yeah. Bravo. Bravo. Yeah, it was a big fan of this one when I tried it for the first time. Yeah, right. And it's Yeah. It's as good as I remember. Mm. Yeah, it really does. I th that that's what I really like about it. You get you get that oakiness, there's a sweetness. Yeah. There's you know, like you say, kind of a dark, bright little bit of spice. It's kinda just touches it all. Yeah. I agree. starting to get worried about this gold foil. I mean we just had two crazy good whiskey. I know. I mean that's they put out great stuff. Yeah. I mean so I I've watched some things on it. You know, I think that Bruce really wanted to pay homage to Yeah. Yeah. The past with this one. I have had a pour of it at Wild Turkey. But I I I think you guys should try it. Yeah, and I mean, you know, we we talked about it right right before we got on camera, right? It's it's a big tag for the LTOs. I mean by far their highest yet. But I mean, my god is it But it sold out. Man, is this a nice looking the first time I actually had it in hand just girthy. Blew me blew me away. Packaging is phenomenal. Like you said, he he he did such a good job paying homage to those original gold foils. It's it's really impressive. yeah. But so forward to that. That's just well done. Well done. So now Let's get her open. It was stuck down there or something. Yeah. We'll turn it around the other way. Let's go pull this one out again. Yeah. Yeah. So the generations was a blend. And this is a straight sixteen year old. good question. It says age sixteen years. Now I'm trying to remember off the top Non-chill filtered. 120. I don't actually remember that off the top of my head, to be honest. i it really is though, I mean, just not to beat the dead horse, but the packaging is so impressive. Even just looking at the bottle. You know, same thing we were talking with these top with the toppers like on that generation. you know, you get the turkey on top. You know, stupid stuff that adds nothing, but at least when you're when you're paying premium dollar for an LTO at least feels good to have have something like that. Is that how we do it? Doing good. Michael's the Navy guy. He can handle more. We was here a long time. Yeah it was. Yeah. Yeah, you gotta try a little bit of everything. Too late for that. We got it. We got it right on the sticker, but it's all right. Cheers, gentlemen. Cheers. Ooh. Yeah, it's ethanol y it's hot. Yeah. I didn't I don't know, maybe I'm desensitized, but listen, it's a fresh crack and I'll give it a pass, it's to start, but so I get a lot of dark almost a little leather and tobacco. I'm getting tobacco and leather and a little bit of caramel. yeah. What did we do the other night that we said is like like that baseball glove leather? What were we That was that Paul Sutton Sutton? It almost kinda yeah, 'cause I kinda that reminds me of that kind of leathery note to it as well. It does have a little little sting in the nostrils. Yeah. Fresh crack. Fresh crack. You're not kidding me. My initial nose, I kinda got some of that but the more and more I get into It's it's going away, yeah. It's it's it's breathing a little bit. Yeah, it's it's breathing. Listen, it's sixteen years it's gonna be okay. Let's just call what it is. I think that's gonna be the And like a I get a big citrus note on that nose. Yeah, and the legs the legs on that are fantastic. Yeah. Cheers, gentlemen. Cheers. Yeah. It doesn't drink as hot as the other one. No. No. That's I mean I after saying that it was it had a s stronger smell to it. Yeah. Right about the same It's an easier drinker, yeah. I do get like that butterscotch on the aftertaste. What was that one we said the other day that was super what was that one? What were we just doing? We did do one that was I was shocked by it. I think it was that Paul Sutton. No, it was after that. I'll think of it. have to watch the podcast to figure it out. I can't do it. I can't watch myself. Come on now. man. I may get like a little bit of mintiness on the back end. You kinda like getting some cinnamon. I get like yeah, it's kinda like that there's like a you get a little bit of that rye spice and then I kinda like kinda fades into maybe it's yeah, like you know, you're kinda getting more like cinnamon. Yeah, it's like a mintiness for me. And I'm almost getting that on the nose now. Really? Mm hmm. The nose I mean it's funny you said that too, 'cause the nose has changed so much for me since just Pour it in the glass, swirling it around. Definitely breathe. Took a few breaths and yeah, you don't get any of that bite on the nose. Mm mm. I think that's the thing with these bottles because like back when I lived in Virginia I'd go to Jack Rose and you know, especially I had I think we talked about it last time, a wild turkey rare breed that was from like yeah ninety something. And these bottles change over time once they're open. And so even from like that I'm sure the camera caught like my initial I kinda was like Yeah, you gotta bring it up. But then ever since then Yeah. Like it just It is it it's so true. I mean they really do. And a lot of time you know, it doesn't even take long. I mean you know, there's Yeah. And now I'm getting a lot of cherry on the palate. Like a lot of cherry on the tongue. See, I think yeah, like the the forty five, the thirteen year forty five, like which, you know, when we talked about it the other night too, I said I'm a huge fan of that bottle. I get like a big dark cherry note on that that I I love. Yeah. I'm getting that now on this. Mhm. I get a lot of cherry on that twenty six A, so I'm curious to see. Cherry on the So I got a lot I got a lot of grape on that twenty six B. Gosh, even even on the palate, like it's really like settling in and just kind of like I'm getting a totally different taste now than I was three minutes ago. Yeah. And I really love bourbons that just evolve as you layer them on your tongue. I I just feel like you're getting more different notes. It's like Yeah. I and and like I was saying, you know, with the generations. That's why I love that generations, 'cause I just feel like I get so many different things out of it, you know. Watching the same movie over and over again. You notice something new like I missed that last time. Yeah. This is like talking about bottles we gotta come back to and I think you almost just we could do an entire week's worth of episodes just off a callback. Like I still gotta go back to four grain. Like that's on the list of things I wanna go back to. Like yeah. I didn't think it was that great on the first time around, but Mean it I've heard good things about it. Yeah. I I really liked it. and again, it's it's it's always so hard to say, right? Because we're personal taste. We're and and we're we're we're bourbon nerds, right? So we're out there, we're watching the content too. You hear one person say it's the greatest thing ever, one person say it sucks, right? One person says this is too much, one per yeah, it's it's so hard to say. Yep. But then yeah, you're you're right, Bob. You almost just you gotta go back at some point and just be like, All right, let me Like it I I agree that it has changed after just letting it set and I'm a fan. After the first couple of sips. Yeah. I'm a fan, right? I mean, we've We've said it several times, right? That a lot of the double double double oaked, right? I remember we were going over double double oak 'cause you guys you guys did it and then you and I had it. And that was the thing that I said. I was like It got moved. It's right here. Nobody's ever said double double oak wasn't good. They just scoff at the price. Right. Yeah. well Woodford, you know, it's a well you know. I feel like it's my favorite of the wood for us. Like to a certain point, it's worth the price. Yeah. Yeah. you know. I've got a second one. I'm gonna find that. They're still around. That's the key here. Those sat for for a while. Correct. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, you're gonna get plenty of people that say it's too much, too expensive, right? I don't know. Like, is it Maybe, you know, that's it's a big ask for what's out there on the market these days. But that's a piece of history. You know, right. Yeah. Well I mean I was just gonna say historically exactly this is a huge evolution and change for wild turf. Yeah. Yeah. You know, it is the first time that Bruce is calling the shop. Yeah, this is his first project, right? I mean that's what you see. It's his name, right? We just did generations all three names, you know. It's Bruce's name. And they all have such a different take at what they like. And so it's it's awesome to see him get his moment and being a rye fan and knowing that listening to Bruce talk and he's a Rye fan, like I'm I'm chomping at the bit to see what's next, right? And I think you do get a little bit of that pepper. You get more of that pepper than what we did on the generations or or certainly the the I agree 1983 wild turkey. It's almost got like a little dusty funk on it too. Yeah. Yeah, I was gonna say port wine, but that's like It honestly does. I mean For me, yeah, that's not upset about that one bit. no, no. That that that's a great pour. I've I mean and and yeah. Again, to beat the dead horse, tell me who's done better packaging than this, right? Right. I mean like the whiskey's awesome, but I mean that's that's just out of the park. And and I've read that there's so many throwbacks on the packaging. You know, like the the I'll show it. Like on inside the the the label, it's got the old gold foil twelve year label. Exactly. Yeah. The the turkey that's on it is from the twelve year turkey. Yeah, so that's the old that's the old design of the turkey. from those original toy. It's almost stuck in there, yeah. Gold foils. And then on the I was watching a video of him talking about everything that's on the outside of the box. Yeah. About w w where the throwbacks are and how the turkey is and Yeah. Yeah. I I I just think it was well thought out. They spent Yeah. It wasn't just a gimmick. They put a lot of effort into this. Yeah, so there you go, Bob. Yeah. The label on the front, right? I mean you compare the turkeys, you know, from That's exactly where I was going. Yeah, right there. Yeah, I'm still on the Easy Easy there, big fella. Yes, you kinda get that old old turkey graphic. Yeah. Well done. Well done. Well done. Yeah. All right, so where do we okay, because Bob was worried, right, we're gonna start we were gonna start off here, right? So how do how do you feel now? What would you order them in, Bob? I mean they're all very different, right? I mean I think from complexity wise. Yeah. I think this one's my favorite. Which one? I think goldfall is my favorite. The the goldfall. I I I agree. But I think complexity wise, I I mean the map the wide generation is a lot of layers. Yeah. Yeah. But I think we started in the right order. I think we I think we have to go down to that, it would there would have been it would have been so flat it's and we know it's not. Right. Right. And and you know, kind of like to Michael's point earlier, right? I mean, you're taking something that was a shelter, right? You know, and you're comparing it to these highly, highly allocated, limited Releases of the modern day, right? So we are choice picks. We are in two different categories, but you know, the eighties nickels stuff has a reputation for a reason. You know, I mean, that is fantastic. we're so used to these older, high age, complex, higher proof, you know, whiskies now that yeah, I think that's the biggest difference is that lower entry proof. Say all of those things about those old guys. They are a different th they're completely different from what we're looking at today. Well I think they were able to get a lot of the flavors that the high proofs get today without being high proof back then. Not high age, not high proof, yeah. And one one was high proof back then. Yeah. Yeah. You know that exactly. Yeah. Is that is that an eight year is that the eight year old so that's kinda That was 'cause they just brought back like the eight year old Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I I'm a big fan of the the, you know, new age eight year one on one. I think it's great to to have that as a shelter, but to be honest with you, we said it's the same conversation, right? So forty years from now, is that eight year one on one shelter gonna take you know, are are they gonna be like god, they just didn't make it like they used to. But I mean like that that's yeah. It's so it's so good. I would agree with you. I mean, generations I knew it was gonna be tough for me personally to stack up to generations because I love that generations. I love how later which did what order do you put? I I actually put gold foil for me personally ahead of that generation. These are good on I love that generations too. I mean it's like arguing the difference between a Mercedes and a and Yeah. You know, a Ferrari. Yeah. You know, it it's It depends on what Mercedes would be updated. Yeah, they're putting a little bit closer. I don't know. Like it's also a situational thing. Like I could see myself like on a Saturday afternoon, just sipping the one one, you know, a few glasses in between yard work and stuff. Whereas like I think the generations would stand up well to like a cigar because of those complexities. Yeah. Yeah. This one is a much easier same proof, much easier to sip on too. Yeah, the generations has some some bite to it. but that's that's a good point and I say it all the time, right? Like when I just want to sit down and have a drink and not think about it, I go for black label hunterproof old forester. Like that's my go to. I love that. That's like a hill all die on. Like I just want to have a good drink. And I know you haven't had those one seventeen. It's real good. Yeah that yeah. The triple chart? Is that the one yeah. Well the the old extra extra extra extra was the one you said. The extra extra old yeah. But but yeah you're right. Like you don't always want to sit here and just be a nerd and you know. Yeah, but again, this isn't it something you're gonna drink every day. Exactly. Right. Yeah. So yeah. Unless wild turkey made it available every day. There ain't no chance of that. Unless yeah. Well I mean I guess three hundred, four hundred dollars they would do that. But I'm sure they would love to I mean there was there was rumor that it's the question there was how much they got. There was a lot of a lot of barrels. Which actually might be nine hundred. I think something like that is what is what I remember hearing. It was something in the nine hundreds. if you're talking two hundred bottles a barrel. Well, it's six at sixteen years, you're probably being optimistic. Maybe one one fifteen. are we talking about are we are we going back to this? No, I'm not trying to piss you off. Are we going back to this? He was on one the other night. Yeah. I just wish like the rotate would change, right? Because we had the same discussion. It's Cincinnati, Columbus, maybe Dayton. Then Well, we didn't Russell's 13. Correct. We've not seen that. Nope. we got Star Hill. Well, wait, wait. We Star Hill Farm in the lottery, though. I I'm we still haven't seen freaking Eagle Rare twelve as a whole state. Okay, well that's Buffalo Trace though. That's a Buffalo Trace thing though. No because they only initially distributed to five states. It was like Illinois, Florida, Colorado. Like there was so we were old friends with Buffalo Trace, is what I'm saying. Only for Weller. Yeah. So we did see Russell's reserve thirteen forty fifth. Not here. Not in northeast Ohio. No. I got one 'cause I got it from the distillery. You hit the lottery I hit the lottery at the distillery. Yeah, you got in on the the online draw. Yeah. So that so I got one, but not because of OHLQ. No. And we had to sneak that thing into the state for that matter. Yeah, you have to ship them so well, and then last year when we had like the bonus drops, and I picked up like that toasted Micters, and it's like this was last year in 2025, and it was like a 2022 label on the neck. And I'm like, what are we doing? where did you hit 2025? Yeah. the well no, they were reporting last week that the Russell's Reserve 13 was hitting some stores. But here it was last year's, it wasn't the forty fifth. It was last year's batch. Yeah. I honestly, based off of just what I had seen, I didn't think it was going to beat the generations for me, just knowing how much I like that pour, but I would I would put it ahead of that personally. Yeah. I I think you know, and I'm trying to remember the the the Russell's reserve fifteen that we did. I love that one too. I I love that one too. But is that yours? Do you have one? I have a yeah. Yeah. And then I've got the Russell's thirteen forty fifth. I think that I think that the wild turkeys, I think that that gold fool is my favorite. It it's close. Yeah. With the thirteen and the and the fifteen special reserves or the special releases. Yeah. I'll have to sit down because I've the forty fifth, I I love that one. I love the fifteen. I mean I really like beacon too. you know. but yeah, that's Well, we'll have to talk about that one 'cause I I've never had Beacon, so we'll Well, we started the Masters Keep series. And your Nate, your buddy He showed up with his own too. You brought stuff. And then and then I see you in Giant Eagle down on Durrell the next day. That was on the seventeen ninety two twelve years. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, well I I'm like, for whatever reason Gino still has those behind the bar. really? yeah. Yeah. really? Yeah. Yeah. Seventeen ninety two twelve years are sitting behind it. They actually had bottled and bonds. That's the only one I don't have in my collection. I they I don't have bottled and bond. I saw it tonight. I was looking at the timing. So I think I might go up there and get a bottle and have an extra. Yeah. At least they had the boxes. I assume that actually I know they were on OHL, but they both were there. Yeah. Those bottled and bonds were OHL everywhere. That was hilarious though. Yeah, they're right. You guys were bought okay last night. No, you bounced back like a pro though. I give you credit. He was still in bed. Yeah. He was not out. Yeah, that night I had a ride that night, so I had to take the advantage. So so your better half took you home. Yeah. And I I remember sitting on the edge of the chair and Steph's like, You come in the bed? yeah. I'm like, I'm not moving. And and I'm sitting up like this in a chair. Yeah. Not leaning back. I sat down in the chair, I tilted my head back, was like, Nope, I gotta come this way. Yeah, you know. just yeah. And I slept that way for quite a while. Yeah, that was a that was a fun night. Well, and then I felt bad because Nate brought those Woodfords and I'm I'm like trying and I'm like I should not be trying to we were like you said we warmed up, we did two episodes, then we went back upstairs when Bob you guys had already had drinks when I got up. And we went and then we got back into the Armagnacs, the old Taylor. the old Taylor came out, the That was a fun night. Well I just can't imagine doing dishes after all the the the next morning. It would have been bad by that. I did. I was like I was breaking into glasses that you know I I haven't had out. I think we were drinking out. that night. that was fun. That was fun.
