Key topics
In this episode: the team recaps the Preston Van Winkle interview and the frustration of losing most of the inside audio after the recording
Alex shares why the experience still felt worthwhile because of Preston’s openness, the family history, and the chance to talk through the lineup in person.
The group discusses how down-to-earth Preston was, including his willingness to sign bottles and spend time talking family, philanthropy, and the history of the brand.
Preston’s tasting advice gets highlighted, especially the reminder not to swirl too aggressively and to blow off the top before nosing. They discuss secondary-market prices, collector culture, and why the Van Winkle family keeps pricing grounded rather than chasing hype
The crew compares several bottles from their own collections, including Old Rip, Lot B, Eagle Rare 17, Stagg, Taylor Four Grain, William Larue Weller, and Elijah Craig 15

Dan and Bob: Good evening. Welcome back to Bourbon, Brass, and Beyond. Bob and I are here, and we have Alex from down in Louisville to talk and recap our little escapade last week. we did a interview with Preston Van Winkle from old Rip van Winkle Distillery and the Pappy Van Winkle family. The recording was awesome. The well, I take that back. The experience was awesome. And we we recorded about
Alex Derthick: Yeah.
Dan and Bob: an hour and a half inside and then about a half hour outside. when I went back the next day to start reviewing the the material, after two and a half minutes the audio went completely dead of the inside recording. And that's where we talked through all the bottles, we tasted all of them, we just had a great conversation. I literally I mean I I I almost wanted to cry. I mean I I I saw you the next morning. Yeah. It was not a pretty sight. I felt horrible
Alex Derthick: Yeah.
Dan and Bob: for you. I think that you know, I I don't think it the more I thought about it, like I was driving home just after that, so like Man, we spent two hours, two and a half hours, a great hours sitting around and talking to him about life and everything. Yeah. And it was, I it sucks. I feel bad for him because I feel like he put the time in. Yeah. I feel bad for us because I think it was great audio. I think it was a great session. And yeah, it doesn't exist anymore. No. Well, it's still there. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: I mean, I I thought we
Dan and Bob: Somewhere.
Alex Derthick: I thought we should have done it again. I mean, just you know just
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: my personal opinion, we should have done it again. The bourbon was phenomenal.
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: I mean, just the experience, I mean, he was such a good dude and just so open
Dan and Bob: Yep.
Alex Derthick: to talk about his family and his sister coming in and chatting and telling us about Pappy and Co. And then just the philanthropic arm of that whole conglomerate over there and I think the whole experience was just really really quite cool. You know, it was more than just like, Hey, we make this really like high profile named bourbon. It was more about like, Hey, who are we and what are we doing and the history and Dan, I give a lot of credit to you, man. You know so much about that history and you know, you were spot on with, you know, all the questions with as far as, you know, from timeliness to what you know, 'cause it changed hands a lot of times that brand and what they've done with it and I I really kinda give you a lot of kudos to that. And y and you too, Bob. I mean, you guys were right there. As someone who grew up in Bourbon Country lives in Louisville I mean that's it's it's kinda secondhand knowledge
Dan and Bob: Mm-hmm.
Alex Derthick: to me. But I mean that was really a really unique experience for me and just very low key, you know, especially the facility itself. I mean it's just there's no distillery there, obviously it's a corporate it's an office. But it was really cool to see some of the older bottles there and then and all those dusties that we saw and just everything in general was I I I I'm still starstruck about it.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. I think that's the easiest way to describe it is you we're sitting there with a guy who, like, I mean, as a family is just about the most revered you're gonna get. Yeah. I mean, I you there's a couple other like you got some of these guys that have been around forever, ever. I those guys get it, but man, just to sit down and listen to him talk about family history and that they could I mean, when he was coming up, they couldn't sell that stuff. Like that's the crazy part of the the history that like the in person stuff that you don't get like that it was awesome. Yeah, it it's not always been easy. No. You know, or or what what they have now. And I think that's what he was so down to earth. Yeah. You know, he's got kids. We've we all have kids the same age. we're all dealing with the same things. It's it's Yep. to me, the just the experience it was awesome. Was awesome. Yeah. What are you drinking right now, Alex?
Alex Derthick: They'll the local. This is did I what did I pull out? A twenty twenty fourteen old Rip Van Winkle. That's in this glass right here. And I got a two thousand and nine old Rip Van Winkle, and that's in this glass right here. So Burnheim juice, and then you've got Buffalo Trace juice, and I am gonna go down this road of the Burnheim versus Buffalo Trace. I know the Burnheim kinda, you know, is an old nostalgic thing or whatever, but the one cool thing I learned from Preston was about how consistent the Buffalo Trace juice is, about how good
Dan and Bob: Yep.
Alex Derthick: it is. And we tasted that along the journey, along the flight, right? And so that was really something I looked I really was enjoying, that education piece from his standpoint.
Dan and Bob: So this is these are the bottles that we had while we were there. one of which, Preston signed the twenty-three that we opened with him. So Bob and I Bob and I just poured our our old rip Van Winkle and I we were talking about that before
Alex Derthick: That fifteen
Dan and Bob: we all got on here. Yeah. It's crazy good.
Alex Derthick: I mean it's it drinkab as far as like drinkability proof, age, I mean that's in my opinion for bourbon, that's a sweet spot, right? I'm a big barrel proof guy. I don't mind I'm not a big I do like ryes, but there's some like super heavy ryes that just try to mask for being underaged and I'm not really a big fan of that, but I think for the the proof, the year, the quality, it's wheated it's got all the flavors. It's I mean, I drink all my bourbon neat anyways. God man, I freaking love that fifteen. the the cool thing, and I wish we had
Dan and Bob: Yeah. I thought it was really, really good.
Alex Derthick: it on recording that was at frickin' lot B. That was the greatest education piece I we've heard in a long time.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yeah. And when I went back, he actually talked about how the Lot B name came in. so you well, l let's back up. Yeah. So after all this happened and you were going home, I reached out to Preston and and he's like, Yeah, come back on Wednesday. 'Cause we did we did the the pod the recording on on Monday. Yeah. So come back on Wednesday, I've got an hour, I'll squeeze you in. And so we went back and then I tried to remember everything that we went through. All the cool stuff that he was talking about. Yeah, 'cause Alex had some really good questions. You had some really good questions. I wanted to try to make sure that we caught all that. All the highlight stuff, yeah. Yeah. there were so many little random nuggets that I feel like we took out of that. That were just like when when we were trying to figure out what distillery, he's like We don't know wh where do you think this one came from? This one could have been he's like, Yeah, just open it up. I can tell you by smelling it. Like he knew exactly where it came from. So it was little stuff like that that was just it was awesome.
Alex Derthick: what else did he teach ya?
Dan and Bob: Yeah, I I I just as we talk our way through that stuff with him, man, he we talked about this a little bit afterwards. That dude was as down to earth as you're gonna get. I feel like he dealt with us setting stuff up, just hanging out for a while, signed the stuff you asked him. Like you couldn't ask for a nicer guy. And then on top of that, you just hear about how he again, they're the they're amongst the most hard to get, hard to find bottles. And you talk you listen to him talk about how I we couldn't give it away. We couldn't I was pouring in people's mouths because that was the only way to get people to try it. Like it's just it was such a good experience and I you know, we met Wally too and I I think I I don't know if it's like all bourbon guys are like all these guys are just down to earth, but man, they just I I don't know. I'm always impressed when we go down there and start talking to any those guys and Yeah, I I mean like Wally took it Wally was one of our first big interviews. Yeah. And he invited us down. We came down, we stayed. Yeah. And he just the experience for him was talking to us, you know. So yes, we did the podcast, but then he still sat around and We Yeah. Hanging out and doing whatever. Yeah. Yeah. I I I think
Alex Derthick: What we all got taught not to do from Preston Pan Winkle is don't swirl it around.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Don't stick your face at it, yeah.
Alex Derthick: Blow blow off the top and then smell. That's and that's a that like changes all the profile for me all the time. As he does it now.
Dan and Bob: That guy's gotta do more samples, more tastings than anybody else, right? Like
Alex Derthick: Look look at that wall up there. I need to get up there. I I might be off work next week. Maybe I can come maybe I can come up there and come
Dan and Bob: Yeah, you need to I I
Alex Derthick: con
Dan and Bob: I I've been asking and that's not all of it, Alex. I mean we've we've been This is just the
Alex Derthick: Don't you mean to fill my truck up and come up there?
Dan and Bob: this is just the downstairs bourbon. Like this is the Yeah.
Alex Derthick: This is downstairs bourbon. I love downstairs bourbon.
Dan and Bob: Table of shame. Yeah, table of shame.
Alex Derthick: I got some I
Dan and Bob: I I've got most of it down here now. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: I've got some I've got some bigger brands, some more expensive bottles I'd have to that table of shame, and I've I've bought some bottles, man, and people are like, it's so good and I'm like, Nope.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. We can't get
Alex Derthick: To
Dan and Bob: over there's a couple on there that we just think have to be bad bottles. Like stuff that everybody same thing. Everybody says these things are great. We try and like we're like, ooh, this thing is horrible. Yeah. Well, and I I think that is it. You know, sometimes we get a bad batch. Yeah. happens. But we've been pretty lucky, I think. Yeah. No, I got that centered.
Alex Derthick: I really want to get my hands
Dan and Bob: Right.
Alex Derthick: on a Mickter's twenty. Yeah.
Dan and Bob: I did pick up a I picked up a Micter's Micter's Ten rye while I was down there. But
Alex Derthick: Mm. What about an Eagle you know, they got e I'm trying to get my hands on an Eagle Rare twelve. I f like I know it's not that cool, but it's just I got all the Eagle Rare set.
Dan and Bob: How how bad how bad do you want one?
Alex Derthick: I mean I can get one down here. It's on all the sites but And I really want I really want another Taylor four grain. That was that's a phenomenal bottle I got.
Dan and Bob: I can send him a sample. I got a sample at home. I I actually have I actually have an extra. You have an extra? I'll take it off for you. I wasn't looking to sell
Alex Derthick: But
Dan and Bob: it. okay. I just I was just saying if Alex doesn't have an Eagle twelve and he can't get one but he wants one. I have one.
Alex Derthick: Well you can you can find down here.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yeah. Is there anything you can't I mean, price I guess matters, but we still they've still not shown up for retail through OHL Q here yet, right? Right. I've not seen them. It's been over a year, right? Yeah, I think it's only a few limited states. Yeah. It's crazy. But yeah.
Alex Derthick: I like your hat.
Dan and Bob: Ha ha ha.
Alex Derthick: The other one on the still.
Dan and Bob: on the back there.
Alex Derthick: Below your Yeah. Yeah.
Dan and Bob: No hatbrass. Alex,
Alex Derthick: You can't.
Dan and Bob: I have something Do you have to wear a hat?
Alex Derthick: We don't even have
Dan and Bob: I was just gonna say, yeah, it's not like you. Yeah, different set of rules, different set of shit.
Alex Derthick: Th the the thing is like the like people we even have blazers. Half the time I fly in pajamas.
Dan and Bob: I love it. Alex. Alex.
Alex Derthick: What? What? What is it? I heart you. Yeah, that makes my heart Pappy.
Dan and Bob: Doesn't it?
Alex Derthick: I mi I I kinda miss that there plane in a weird way. Life was a simple
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: time then.
Dan and Bob: Yeah, it was.
Alex Derthick: Yeah. Anyways, back to the good stuff, the bourbon, man. So how do you guys what what what year is your ri old rip?
Dan and Bob: That one do you know it? you know what? It's on the sticker I bad. I can't see it though. I'll put my glasses on. It's gotta be on there. Check that sticker. The UK sticker. Is it on there? No. It's gotta have a la they all have a laser code. Yeah. Unless it's covered up by this. I I think it's a nineteen.
Alex Derthick: Unless it's older juice and then they don't.
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Maybe you got really old too.
Dan and Bob: Maybe.
Alex Derthick: I will tell you what though, man. This
Dan and Bob: it's really good. Yeah. I can't see it. I have another one in here. I could
Alex Derthick: I see that.
Dan and Bob: that I could open but speaking of lot B, I mean
Alex Derthick: What what's the one next to it?
Dan and Bob: I have another Lot B
Alex Derthick: Wow.
Dan and Bob: Well, 'cause it there's we thought we were gonna kill this while we were down there and yet somehow we didn't.
Alex Derthick: I mean, maybe I just need to come up there and we can do that.
Dan and Bob: Ha ha ha.
Alex Derthick: Bob, you know a lot about bourbon for a guy who really actually doesn't drink.
Dan and Bob:
Alex Derthick: Both at the same time.
Dan and Bob: Which one's better?
Alex Derthick: Hmm. I I feel like the fourteen is a little bit of a it's a smoother finish, it's a it's your traditional wheated bourbon. It's a the palette is less complex for the fourteen. Try to reset things here in a poor way, but
Dan and Bob: Mm-hmm.
Alex Derthick: You Preston's way.
Dan and Bob: It's always one of the things I talk about. It's it's really hard to split hairs on some of this stuff. Like when you're drinking two different versions of great whiskey, it's really, really tough to say.
Alex Derthick: I think the Bernheim juice has more of a unique flavor. It's a different the grain's a little different. The the finish on it is spicier. I'll say that.
Dan and Bob: I think I think I get anything from Bernheim I think is a little spicier. Yeah. And I don't know if that's the Rick House or you know, where the barrels are. But I have always thought
Alex Derthick: I I'm
Dan and Bob: that Bernheim's a little spicier. Yeah. Well, you're almost done with that tattoo. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: I'm gonna kill this probably tonight, but yeah. I've got another one of the same year, but we might we might kill that one. I I that might be a rough morning tomorrow. I don't wanna do that one.
Dan and Bob: Well let's let let's go to the lot B. We we've we've done the old rip. I mean this bottle's just begging to be killed. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Just kill her already. I mean, come on now.
Dan and Bob: Good. It's on you.
Alex Derthick: That Eagle Rare seventeen that we opened when we were here, I d I killed it right after you guys left.
Dan and Bob: Nice. That was it was good. Yeah, it
Alex Derthick: I love that. I did I
Dan and Bob: was really good. That was fantastic. That and that was my first time having eagle rare seventeen. Same. man man down. There it is.
Alex Derthick: man. RIP.
Dan and Bob: Mm. It's all right. I got another one. Hmm. See, I I I I like the I like the lot.
Alex Derthick: Man, the Bernheim used just it kinda hit it has a different flavor.
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Like the and I I know it's not the same or whatever, they only put off two mash bills, right, at Buffalo Trace. But like The old rip tastes so similar to an antique. It tastes like an unfinished antique. Like it needed to be aged another two years, which shockingly it probably is.
Dan and Bob: Or it could be well or antique one hundred and ten proof tenure just sitting around by the case. That was the other part is there was just all those boxes of crazy bottles they had sitting around down there.
Alex Derthick: dude, that was insane, man. There was bottles down there that were worth it
Dan and Bob: I love the Yeah.
Alex Derthick: was like nineteen fifties, full intact. That was insane.
Dan and Bob: Yes.
Alex Derthick: The history of that place in that office.
Dan and Bob: Well, even just the family photos and the like there was a well there was a family tree that went back into like the 1700s for them too. Like it was that kind of stuff. Like I guess those are the things that keep them who they are too, though. So Yeah. I I've read a number of books and and there's a book written by Julian's aunt. Okay. Or or or sister. And that has a lot of those pictures in it. But to actually see the real ones in person, not a copy, not a photocopy. Yeah. That was unbelievable.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, I mean all those clippings, like the generations and like where it handed down and his story, right? So like Preston started off like his his one of my favorite quotes he ever had was I had to pour it down people's throats. Could you imagine could
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: you imagine that right now? Like you walk into a liquor store and there's a there's a marketing booth of Pappy Van Winkle and you're like, Hey, like let me come here. Like c come here.
Dan and Bob: Trust me, this is gonna be th you'll like this. This is pretty good. Trust me on it. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, could you could you imagine that in today's market like and then personally as as a collector and someone who has a whatever and doesn't sell and doesn't sell resell or prof like his disdain for the flippers and people who do that shit. Sorry, excuse
Dan and Bob: yeah.
Alex Derthick: my language. I I mean sorry, I I'm passionate about it. Like like if you're gonna do this
Dan and Bob: You're fine.
Alex Derthick: thing, like do it the right way. Like do it to like Having a I get Preston is not a drinker, he's a he's a taster. But like have a glass it's about a conversation, it's about building a connection, a friendship, a journey, an experience. Go on this journey together. And it's one of my favorite freaking things, man. That's that's probably one of my favorite things when someone like would come over and be like, Hey, like, what do you have? I'm like, I don't know, help yourself. Pour a glass, let's talk about it. Have a d you know, and it turns into a few.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Well I think that's the other Yeah. What you like's not what
Alex Derthick: sorry, I didn't mean this.
Dan and Bob: I like, and at the end of no, you're good. What you like is what not what I like. You find something you like and let's go. Yeah. Well, and I learned that from Alex. You know, like when we met, we were we were doing contract negotiations together and he just
Alex Derthick: Yeah.
Dan and Bob: started bringing stuff. It's like we sat down there and that was great. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: man. And it it wasn't even like top dollar stuff. It was just like, hey, I think this is a really good quality and value for like the price point. A lot of it was 1792 like fullproof stuff. I like fullproof. I like high proof.
Dan and Bob: Mm-hmm.
Alex Derthick: And that's a that's a more of a rye type thing. I get it. But I I like barrel proof whiskey, man. Like I don't want this 80 proof Basil Haydn's crap. Like, that's just w that's like a freaking liqueur to me, man. Like give me give me the real juice.
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: I don't want this watered down thing you're trying to peddle. Nobody's got time for that, man. Like we're here to we're here to get it. Like we just got our bottle our Sazrak rye. We just got that bot that barrel back. And it's now they've upped it to a hundred proof per bottle. And it's good, man. Like it it drinks well neat and it's not it's underage, it's probably a six or seven year age. And it it just it it drinks well. It would go it would go great in old fashioned. It's it'd be perfect pairing for an old fashioned man. But I mean that's too much sugar for me, I'd end up as big as a house. But but like
Dan and Bob: So I really like I've got the one twenty five fullproof Saz. And to me, I don't know that you can really tell the difference with handy. Yeah. Yeah. I I like this.
Alex Derthick: Really?
Dan and Bob: I I yeah, we've compared them back to back and I you can't really tell a difference in my opinion.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, I was fine.
Dan and Bob: I I think I think I think they're very, very similar. Yeah, we did what a little do we we did that one. We did the handy. We did fool proof and the regular, right? Yeah. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. And I like the handy. I do. But but I when you could buy that SAS fullproof or a hundred and twenty five proof for Yeah. What is it? Forty nine dollars or whatever it is a bottle. One twenty four nine. And then then the then the The handy itself is is a hundred and twenty four proof. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Well so
Dan and Bob: What do you
Alex Derthick: sorry, lost camera. So when you do the tasting for these things You get to you get to th you get to thieve at whatever it is, it comes out of whatever the barrel is at the time. So we unfortunately I got extended, I got stuck in freaking England. So I didn't get to actually pick that barrel. But it probably would have been what I would have picked. I've done numerous of them, but they've now have gone down to the the I'm sorry, the hunter proof. Which is an upgrade and then it's a they've gone they would they give us all one liter bottles, which I'm like, all right, whatever.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. All right.
Alex Derthick: But it's when you when you pick it, it's it's at barrel proof. So it's at whatever it's coming out that day. And then it ages for like another year or whatever, but like
Dan and Bob: Yeah, that was the same thing with the weller fullproof pick. The the barrel was one eighteen, but they were gonna proof it down to one fourteen.
Alex Derthick: And I'm like, why? Like get another bottle or two out of it? Like can I just like pay for it at like this proof?
Dan and Bob: Weird. Yeah. Stretch a little further. Yeah. That's ultimately all they're getting too. Yep. Right.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, I don't I don't know. I don't get it. Like when we I've done a bunch of Buffalo Trace picks, like Buffalo Trace is standard ninety proof, whatever. And like you taste it all at barrel strength. And I'm like, why can't we just have this like as it is, like Buffalo Trace barrel proof? Like why can't that be another label? Like why do I need like why do we have to cut it?
Dan and Bob: Ha ha ha.
Alex Derthick: I don't need thirty cases of this.
Dan and Bob: Right. Buffalo Trace does though.
Alex Derthick: But can I just get it barrel proof? You're already buying the barrel. The barrel is what it is. Can I just buy the empty bottles? Is it that big of a deal to you? I mean
Dan and Bob: Right. Now, so how does it work in you can just go pick it up at the d distillery, right?
Alex Derthick: No, we had to go to a distributor and then a store and the whole thing for
Dan and Bob: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: a barrel proof. Like a store pick here.
Dan and Bob: They're still required to push it through there.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, it's really annoying. And like this one was even through Buffalo Trace, like was the one other lottery, like you get the email, right? And you get a barrel
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: pick. And so s one of my buddies like, Hey man, like you're good at picking bourbon, like you wanna be a part of it? And Yeah, sign me up. Like, where do I join? And You still had to we got it through Kroger, Kroger Wine and Spirits. Which they're he they're a huge buyer. So they get a they get a ton of stuff.
Dan and Bob: yeah.
Alex Derthick: I mean they're one of the biggest buyers.
Dan and Bob: In their the head of their liquor is the head of their liquor is Chris in in Kentucky. I'd met him. when Derek Trucks came to the Kroger I think he I think his Instagram name's Kroger Chris. really? Yeah. But but yeah. He d he's got some good picks. Yeah. He's got some great picks.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, they
Dan and Bob: But
Alex Derthick: the the the bourbon club I'm in in Memphis, man, they they they rock them they do some really solid picks. They do they do a lot of stuff with like some distilleries that I don't really know about, but I would never have bought it if I wasn't in that club. A lot of the stuff I'm a fan of. Obviously it's not affiliated with any of the stuff we're talking about today, like rare character and whatever else, a lot of willets. but I mean I I still freaking am tickled to death that we we went in there with Preston. I mean that was a great day, man. I'm so thankful to be a part of that. That was awesome. I still like am tickled to death, man. Like I'm still sitting there going, Man, did I really just do that? Like in the in the case. That was the funniest thing, man. Like in the case, right? That big table in front of us. You've got a display case
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: in there. And they've got all these dusties, all these I'm trying I'm drawing a blank now what was mostly in there. What was in there? all fits, right.
Dan and Bob: The old Fitzgerald. The very old Fitzgerald. Yeah. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: And then there was the random Molson Canadian export. And for me as a guy who plays
Dan and Bob: Yes.
Alex Derthick: hockey, man, like in a b I texted a bunch of my buddies from Canada, they're like, No way, like that's in that case. I'm like, Yeah, man, I don't I don't know, but like it's here.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Well, and there was a there was a story on it that it actually sat on the edge of Julian's table for like twenty years. really. And then
Alex Derthick: Right. Yeah.
Dan and Bob: finally then finally Preston was like, Hey, sh can I throw this away or can I get rid of this? And his dad was like, No, that's a defect. There was a the the the bottle had this really big defect in it and that's I didn't even notice it.
Alex Derthick: had like a seed and like it was like melted out of it.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. And
Alex Derthick: Yeah.
Dan and Bob: he's like that's a bottling defect. I I'm keeping that. And that was It's funny.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, I mean I I think we should have tried the skunked beer and see how bad it was.
Dan and Bob: Well, it's Molson.
Alex Derthick: Was it what year Molson though? It's not Molson cores, it's just straight Molson though. So he's probably a better product. But
Dan and Bob: Probably. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: You got some Taylors back there, I see. You got an old charter. What else you got back there? What tailors you got?
Dan and Bob: that's that's that's an I have a nineteen seventy one old tailor.
Alex Derthick: Well, I stand corrected.
Dan and Bob: It's in like a flask bottle. It's it's it's on the short list of my favorite things in here. I have a four grain, I've got a single barrel, I've got a barrel proof, and a small batch.
Alex Derthick: Well, here's your foregrain.
Dan and Bob: Yeah, twenty twenty six.
Alex Derthick: I'm trying to get one of those. I've got the original four grain that came out whenever they did it, and that's fucking delicious. It's one of my
Dan and Bob: Well I haven't gone back to it yet. You haven't? No. No, not tonight. Not after this. It's this year I didn't think was
Alex Derthick: Maybe we should do that. I got a bunch of
Dan and Bob: all that good.
Alex Derthick: Well, there's always
Dan and Bob: We did it as a fresh crack though. I didn't think it was my favorite thing. So
Alex Derthick: It's gotta breathe.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Well whenever whenever you wanna do it, we we should do a comparison.
Alex Derthick: All right. You got some stags, you got a handy?
Dan and Bob: Jaki
Alex Derthick: Mm. I I know what I'm bringing up there. I got the entire knob creek flight, all the things. If you wanna do that. They're all unopened.
Dan and Bob: We did that, didn't we? We did I wasn't here this day. I was I didn't do it all. I thought you brought the the
Alex Derthick: I mean I've got the
Dan and Bob: twenty one and I did, but I didn't I don't think I did all. I don't think I was here that day. maybe I was.
Alex Derthick: I've got like back to like the original Knob Creek, like two thousand eight, age nine years label, store pick, the whole thing.
Dan and Bob: Do we do that one? Maybe we did upstairs, man.
Alex Derthick: It's a if you wanna go around the world real quick, all the way to the
Dan and Bob: Do you have a twenty one?
Alex Derthick: twenty twenty one, there's a twenty five I've got.
Dan and Bob: See, I don't I don't even think I have any knob creeks here, to be honest. Because I have twelve. I have a twelve at twenty one. I have did you buy a cast?
Alex Derthick: And I know there are Ry, so everyone that's watching is gonna be like, He doesn't even like ryes and he likes knob creek. I'm like, Yeah, I get it. I get it. I get it. I heard you all.
Dan and Bob: Yeah, I I honestly I See if I can zoom in a little better.
Alex Derthick: We could do the Blantons tour. I got all the Blantons, even L D W.
Dan and Bob: Who that one I've not w We tried no, you had it out, but I didn't try it when we were there that day. What's that? That one. The France one.
Alex Derthick: That's a I need to get another one when I'm over there.
Dan and Bob: Can you see him? Or you need to zoom in
Alex Derthick: yeah, yeah.
Dan and Bob: more?
Alex Derthick: Or or if you want to get
Dan and Bob: 'Cause I can go.
Alex Derthick: the Barton distillery on the hook, I mean we I've got some f I've got all the I've got a lot of seventeen ninety two proof full proof anyways.
Dan and Bob: What do you have on the the Heaven Hills old fits?
Alex Derthick: I don't have anything from it. To be honest, man, I don't have nothing from it. You have a Rock Hill Farms, that is my all time favorite bourbon.
Dan and Bob: Really?
Alex Derthick: Yeah, that's dude, I've got
Dan and Bob: Yours is an open editor.
Alex Derthick: I've got a case of it still unopened. It makes me so sad. That that
Dan and Bob: Well, this one hasn't been opened yet either.
Alex Derthick: decanter is absolutely beautiful. That's my favorite decanter.
Dan and Bob: So I did just get a Hancock's reserve. So I I have completed the mash bill number w number two from Buffalo Trace. So
Alex Derthick: Number two.
Dan and Bob: I have everything from Mash Mash Bill Two.
Alex Derthick: Yeah.
Dan and Bob: So that's the Ancient Age, Rock
Alex Derthick: Mm-hmm.
Dan and Bob: Hill, Hancock's reserve. What else is on that?
Alex Derthick: Blaytons is on
Dan and Bob: Is that the blends? Yeah, blends.
Alex Derthick: too. We can find out.
Dan and Bob: I think it is. Cause we did a a podcast
Alex Derthick: Pretty sure Bland.
Dan and Bob: on match bill number two, but the only thing we didn't have was the Hancock's reserve.
Alex Derthick: No.
Dan and Bob: Too shabby.
Alex Derthick: Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Colonel Taylor, Stag, George Eestag, Benchmark, Old Charter, White Dog
Dan and Bob: How much benchmark is up there? Is that all still over there? Yeah, it's I have the whole benchmark series. That's what you need to come up for.
Alex Derthick: The whole series.
Dan and Bob: The whole all seven.
Alex Derthick: Blanton's actually I I s I think I stand corrected. Mashville too is all Blanton's, Elmer Tilly, Rock Hill Farms, Hancock, and Ancient Age.
Dan and Bob: Ancient Age. Ancient Ancient Age, I I I have that. And the Almer Tele I have that. So we I we did all those.
Alex Derthick: I mean, if if we want to go down the Buffalo Trace train, that's we we need I need a I need a driver and I'm at home. That's gonna be a day. I we need
Dan and Bob: Well it
Alex Derthick: to start at about ten AM and pace ourselves.
Dan and Bob: the nice part about living right next door to this place. I just gotta walk go back across the street. Right. I do have a guest room, so it's got its own bathroom.
Alex Derthick: And
Dan and Bob: Got a flatmore.
Alex Derthick: Back to the burnout and juice. Huh? Hell no. I don't know. It's a great question.
Dan and Bob: When you fly again.
Alex Derthick: I haven't worked since I saw you. Nope. I sat ten days on call from
Dan and Bob: Really? man. Gee.
Alex Derthick: here and I just went, peace out. And I was like, all right, I'm just hanging
Dan and Bob: Never happened.
Alex Derthick: out.
Dan and Bob: Well if you're having Bernheim ju juice, we could have a little Bernheim juice. I'm not gonna say no. Wait, we need new glasses. I'm not mixing that one. Well, they're like Doritos. Bet you can't have just one. Make more. I'm not pouring that in order.
Alex Derthick: I mean I could go get all the blantons, so You want me to bring out all the blantons?
Dan and Bob: No no, he's going to the twenty three. Not ooh.
Alex Derthick: We just escalated quickly.
Dan and Bob: Well, it's the only thing I have it's Bernheim's.
Alex Derthick: All right. I'll go back to the burn out juice.
Dan and Bob: Mm.
Alex Derthick: You guys ext Hey Dan.
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: I'm really upset that the Browns traded Miles Garrett.
Dan and Bob: you and me both.
Alex Derthick: Like that I I'm not cool with that man. Like why they already pick a loaded team though, like let's make better.
Dan and Bob: I I th I think the the coach came in and just wanted to reset everything and reload from the beginning and I just think that that was a bad call. I I don't love it, but I'm actually very excited to see what that defensive line does this year. The idea that Aaron Darnold is back and the two of those guys are gonna run of snaps together is both the scariest and most amazing thing I can't wait to watch for this year. I'll watch
Alex Derthick: It's terrifying.
Dan and Bob: more of that than I watch with the Browns. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: this
Dan and Bob: listen, my other my other thought is Jo t go.
Alex Derthick: I was gonna say, I forgot to tell you. When when does this when is this gonna air?
Dan and Bob: When when do you want it there?
Alex Derthick: this weekend I'm gonna be in Cleveland for my dad's surprised birthday.
Dan and Bob: In Cleveland?
Alex Derthick: Mm-hmm. I'll be downtown.
Dan and Bob: It's only like an hour from here. What what
Alex Derthick: Yeah. You wanna come hang out?
Dan and Bob: So my nephew's getting married on s what when?
Alex Derthick: I'm leaving Saturday morning, driving up there, leaving Monday.
Dan and Bob: God Sunday.
Alex Derthick: I'm not doing anything Sunday. Saturday we're going to the the Indians Tigers game or sorry, Guardians Tigers game and then
Dan and Bob: There you go.
Alex Derthick: I got I got two kids and then I don't we're gonna go do dinner and do all the things but if if you're gonna be up there I can bring some juice I'm driving up so we're staying downtown.
Dan and Bob: So On Monday
Alex Derthick: If you wanna if you wanna meet my dad
Dan and Bob: I am supposed to
Alex Derthick: and talk really union serious union stuff.
Dan and Bob: Ha ha ha.
Alex Derthick: The the OG original
Dan and Bob: I do want to meet your dad.
Alex Derthick: he he's DG on steroids.
Dan and Bob: I have a I have a late I have a late show on Monday.
Alex Derthick: I don't have a show. What how long are you gone for next week?
Dan and Bob: I work Monday, I'm home Monday night, off Tuesday, and then I work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Alex Derthick: So get up there on Monday night.
Dan and Bob: Who are you? What was that W word?
Alex Derthick: So what you're telling me is
Dan and Bob: I I will
Alex Derthick: go back home, drop the kids off, go back, get up there Tuesday.
Dan and Bob: Short trips. Well, I get in at like nine PM Monday night, so That's just sounds like a time to get warmed up.
Alex Derthick: What else are you gonna do?
Dan and Bob: Nothing.
Alex Derthick: Bob said y I heard you're gonna cut the graph.
Dan and Bob: Hey, I c I cut the grass today. I even did the backyard. Mine looks so bad. I I did the backyard. The only thing I haven't done is weed whack yet, but I I sprayed for weeds. I mean I
Alex Derthick: be glad you're not down here.
Dan and Bob: So my goal is to not have
Alex Derthick: This week today at
Dan and Bob: Uh-huh.
Alex Derthick: five o'clock in the afternoon, my truck's at a hundred and seven degrees, driving down the interstate at eighty eight miles
Dan and Bob: I believe it.
Alex Derthick: an hour.
Dan and Bob: So today my oldest and youngest ran a cross country meet and the heat
Alex Derthick: Sun's not good.
Dan and Bob: it the heat index was ninety-three. Yeah. And we were in the sun. and of course I had to run from line to line, you know. My son has a soccer game tomorrow at 5 p.m. 5 30 p.m. it'll a nice one too. At least it's a at least it's a moist heat. No. It is unbelievable. I took the kids out to the bus this morning. I took them out at seven o'clock this morning. I'm like, geez, man. It was hot already. Your is really
Alex Derthick: Dude, it's I mean,
Dan and Bob: oaky.
Alex Derthick: d down here for seventy it's like seventy two in the morning, which feels like a air conditioning. And then at six o'clock,
Dan and Bob: It's still eighty here.
Alex Derthick: Thursday Thursday is supposed to be one hundred straight, no heat index, just sh all gas. And Ju and Julian Preston. Who's even talking about that? He's like, Yeah, it's actually had an impact on our bail yields because there's more evaporation and more loss.
Dan and Bob: It's Listen, I think this is a bigger question. So we talked that's one of the things we talked about him that I thought was very interesting. But also we talked a little bit about just White Oak and what that future looks like for them. Yeah. I I just can't help but think that to his point, even if they just go down five percent or ten percent, does that mean they've got to cut further into barrels? Does that mean they expand where those barrels age? Does that mean they go to younger juice to hit the production numbers that they need? Those are all we
Alex Derthick: No.
Dan and Bob: the he th to be clear, while we were sitting with him, he never we didn't ask those specific questions, but we also probably, you know what I mean, like I don't know if I would have discussed it anyways, but my take is that it on small production stuff like that, and let's say that it is what it is, it's small production, but some of these others are gonna what's that gonna look like for Eagle Rare ten or twelve? Like, you know they're making a whole Rick
Alex Derthick: I I don't think
Dan and Bob: House full of it.
Alex Derthick: I don't think much, man, to be honest. I think the production across the state has been through the roof. Like Jim Beam is shut down.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: you know, you're and a lot of people don't realize this in the bourbon industry and world. I'll it and excuse my verbiage I'm gonna use, I'm stealing Jim Rutledge. What he actually said was it's a very incestual business, meaning that Well their competitors, they're also share a lot of stuff. Four roses is sharing stuff with Beam. Beam is
Dan and Bob: Yeah, I agree.
Alex Derthick: sharing stuff with Trace. and it's all over the place. And and that's fine. But when they're doing these big batches, you know, like Buffalo Trace is you know, it's a when when they do a Buffalo Trace run, that's a that's a eighteen thousand barrel run type thing. And and they can blend in some other barrels that maybe wouldn't have made the cut over here or whatever and and vice versa. you know to be honest, you know this isn't this isn't a single barrel whiskey. This is a small batch or big batch whiskey. And and while it's it it rings the price of a small batch whiskey or a single barrel whiskey or whatever, it's not. And it's never gonna be. And I think with that said, I think you see some product shifting, you know, whatever. There's some barrels that could make the cut and get dragged on further through the aging process. right? Because and a lot of people don't understand the age statement on this label, says age ten years. When that comes out, that's the minimum age statement for the youngest barrel, right? So there could be a seventeen year barrel in this in this match. And a lot of people don't get that, is that's just the youngest statement. So as long as they, you know, uphold to that standard, I don't I don't really see that changing much. I see I see the kind of the demand has kind of plateaued, and I think that's what you're kind of seeing. I think honestly that for people like you and me, I think that helps us, right? We're conneseieurs we enjoy age product. We enjoy unique products, we enjoy unique things. As you talked about earlier in that podcast, you talked about the the age chilling room and like what they're doing with certain barrels and like what are those what are those they doing? They're they're experimenting with different tactics and different things, right? So if there was a gluttony of Pappy Van Winkle barrels sitting around, like what do they do with that? And how do they continue the premium brand and the premium product at a premium price point, but yet Yeah, the demand doesn't really reach it.
Dan and Bob: Well, I think that for me, the way I look at that though is so we heard Preston say that they didn't reject any barrels from Buffalo Trace this year. But what if the what if in five years from now to hit their production they can't reject? Like that becomes my the where I see the squeeze happening is Well I don't think they'll do that. I I think that they have a standard. I agree. And I think that, you know, the yields are what the yields are. But he was very I ag I agree with this a hundred percent, but both things can't be true. You can't continue to hit a production number. And and again, Buff he was very clear the Buffalo Trace was very consistent. But if you're saying that you're only picking from the first two floors and you're only picking from the middle of the the there's only five hundred barrels that exist there. And if the the angel share goes up and the production goes down, do they go Up another floor? Do they go one no, it's just less that you But that I
Alex Derthick: No.
Dan and Bob: agree with this. And I think that becomes the they I think I think that's exactly what they would do. I agree with this. I think I don't I don't think Buffalo Trace makes that decision, but I think the Van Winkle family makes that decision is we're just gonna stick with what's here. But I I think that that and again it's never gonna go zero, but it's gonna go down.
Alex Derthick: I think the other thing is that people
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Well the
Alex Derthick: don't remember is the lot B you the Lot B was a store pick barrel from that liquor store in California. And back in the day, you used to get store used to get single barrel versions of this. This was a sim you used to get
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yep.
Alex Derthick: a a silver a label similar to this on this. That's rare. And they'll just go to they'll go to stuff like that.
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Because people will eat that up. They'll blend the they'll blend this juice in with whatever they gotta blend it in. And you know, they'll just they'll figure out how to push the product off and I I just I I just I just don't see it happening. I mean for a premium brand like that, I mean they are the they're the Rolls Royce of bourbon, right? Good
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: good, better and different and and good for them for not selling at we talked about that too, was hey like your
Dan and Bob: Uhhuh.
Alex Derthick: your product is the demand is a a line that could wrap around Earth and yet you're like, nope, we're gonna we're gonna sell it for like what we Because the average consumer
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, and that's still blows my mind. and good on them, right? Because they could they could they could totally
Dan and Bob: Yep. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: market themselves to a certain individual that only has that price point. And they and they do with some slick bottles, right? There's a twenty five, an old rip bam called twenty five or whatever, and there's you know
Dan and Bob: Well, and it's gotta be hard.
Alex Derthick: There's all the
Dan and Bob: Y it has to be hard when you see the secondary market. for something that you just sold brand new is now selling for four to five times as much on the secondary market. A hundred yeah, ten tim yeah. It i it's gotta be hard. He you know what though, I I to me and you it is I think he made it very, very clear that nope, because th there are people who do get it at that price. I don't like the flippers, but we also don't wanna ruin we're trying to support the people that have always supported us. So we sell it at our at a price. So I get it. I got a I ton of respect for it, but yeah, I would Yeah. It would be very hard for me to know that that's a twenty five hundred dollar bottle that I just sold for two forty nine. Yeah. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: It it actually it would to be quite frank, it'd piss me the fuck off, but yeah, that's just me.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yep. Yep.
Alex Derthick: You also used to call me Lil Wayne for different reasons, so Yeah. But
Dan and Bob: I said it I said it admirably.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, I mean I I I just wish it was it was more available to the average kind of sewer and the person getting sorted into it because it's kind of the pinnacle when you're growing your collection of like, do you have any papies? And then everyone's like, like I don't have any. And it's like, Well, it's a twenty five hundred dollar bottle, but like when you're growing a collection, it's like, is the price really worth is the is the juice worth the squeeze, right? The old famous saying. And I'll be quite frank with you, I think I think the fifteen, man, the juice is worth the squeeze. I I mean I know what it costs secondary and
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: I'm a sucker for it, man. It's it's a good bottle. I think that's the I think that's the right blend. I prefer it over the twenty three. You've got Bernheim juice right there in front of you. I think it's a great bottle. I I love that bottle. We had it. I I'm I mean to be honest,
Dan and Bob: So what's in
Alex Derthick: the entire the entire lineup is phenomenal. There's not a bad bottle in the dungeon.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: I've never had a bad fucking bottle. Like it when you when you I get
Dan and Bob: So
Alex Derthick: a Van Winkle bottle, I know it's gonna I know it's gonna hit. Like I'm not questioning like,
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yeah. Yep.
Alex Derthick: is it gonna like it it's like it's just like how can I taste it? When can I taste it? And I wanna taste it like right now. Before I destroy my palate with this dinner or like whatever. And I and I know it's gonna hit. And I'll and that's their that's their thing, like, right? Like the consistency is awesome. So
Dan and Bob: So what what was interesting is I can't remember if he did it on Wednesday or Monday, but he said the rarest bottle is the Van Winkle rye. Hmm. I would never would have guessed. So so
Alex Derthick: Mm-hmm. Yeah, it's
Dan and Bob: he told me the story on the Van Winkle rye was it was a thirteen years 'cause that's what they sourced. Yeah. And they only had so much of it and when they came over to Buffalo Trace, they brought what what they had left of it with them. put it into a steel tank so it didn't age anymore. And it was actually by that time like a fifteen year rye. But they still they didn't want to change the label. Yeah. but then
Alex Derthick: Have you have you done the tour over there recently?
Dan and Bob: The Buffalo Trace?
Alex Derthick: Yeah.
Dan and Bob: Yeah. Yeah. but then they had
Alex Derthick: Do you get to taste anything out of Pompeii?
Dan and Bob: I would they didn't do any tasting down there, but we did go through Pompeii.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, they've that's some weird stuff going on down there. We when we did
Dan and Bob: Mm-hmm.
Alex Derthick: the barrel pick we did, that's I don't know what they got going on then they're like, Do you wanna taste? I'm like, Yeah. It was some that is some weird juice. They have I don't know if it's a batch or what I don't know what they're doing down there. But they let us leave it and that was pretty good. I'm ex I don't know what they're gonna do, what experimental
Dan and Bob: So they had it
Alex Derthick: Huh?
Dan and Bob: Yeah. They had it shut down the day we were there 'cause when I was down there for that Weller fullproof pick, they did us they they gave took us through Pompeii, but all all the distilling was was stopped that day. They were doing their their annual
Alex Derthick: Was that right after?
Dan and Bob: summer maintenance.
Alex Derthick: Mm-hmm. It's crazy, man. That
Dan and Bob: So
Alex Derthick: place is so like on nostalgic besides that thing.
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Yeah.
Dan and Bob: But that so that that Van Winkle rye, after they brought over that tank, that's all they had left. And they had to wait for thirteen years for Buffalo Trace to make the Van Winkle rye. Yeah. So it wasn't until twenty fifteen that they c actually were able to start blending in Buffalo Trace juice into the into the into the Van Winkle rye. Yeah. Wow. So they just took limited bottles, like just a couple cases every year, out of that batch. Huh. until they till Buffalo Trace caught up. Yeah. It's crazy. So the Van Winkle rye is the rarest of all the of all the bottles.
Alex Derthick: But one of the least sought after
Dan and Bob: Yeah. I don't know. I I it's phenomenal. I I really like it. I Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Between the lot B to
Dan and Bob: It blew my mind.
Alex Derthick: twelve year And the fifteen, man.
Dan and Bob: I feel like that's always on the short list for people too. Yeah. So and I'm I'm probably a little bit different, whereas I really like the twenty. I mean, I the fifteen's my favorite. Yeah. But I really like the twenty. I I I like that little extra oakiness. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: Really?
Dan and Bob: Yeah. I I have become a fan of of like the double oaks. Yeah. I I like that little bit of oak flavor, a little maybe throwing a little glove leather and tobacco and I'm I'm Pappy.
Alex Derthick: Glove leather? Do you taste a lot of gloves? Like how how did you like I you like lick a lot of baseball gloves? Like what are you doing, man? Like
Dan and Bob: Yeah, like a baseball glove leather. Yeah. Yes. He used to stand out the standing out in the outfield licking his glove.
Alex Derthick: Well you had a good pitcher, right? Like he had a good starting pitcher.
Dan and Bob: this is so good. Yeah, I I wasn't much of a baseball player. Chewing on the strings. I wasn't much of a baseball player. that's funny.
Alex Derthick: But but but you did play. What what does
Dan and Bob: I did.
Alex Derthick: does the world know what you played?
Dan and Bob: I was what n in sports.
Alex Derthick: No and and Band. I mean y you can you can you're you're a musician, Dan. And an athlete.
Dan and Bob: yep, I'm a trumpet player. That was many years of of martial arts. And yet I became an airline pilot. Yeah,
Alex Derthick: Because you don't like working.
Dan and Bob: But yeah. Well, that's Well I like to I
Alex Derthick: What what's it up?
Dan and Bob: like truth, not I like I'd like to get paid to not want to work. Yeah.
Alex Derthick: What do you think I'm doing right now? I'm on call right now.
Dan and Bob: Yeah.
Alex Derthick: For all the viewers watching, I have a twenty-four hour call out window. So the minimum time they can call me out is twenty four hours.
Dan and Bob: Ha ha ha.
Alex Derthick: Twenty four hours. It's it's a full calendar day with the C.
Dan and Bob: Ha ha ha. Monthly calendar day. Yeah. Agreed.
Alex Derthick: yeah.
Dan and Bob: Are you in another beef stick?
Alex Derthick: What's the Nah I got a pretzel rob. So
Dan and Bob: What's with what?
Alex Derthick: I gotta show you a funny story. So We d we do a hockey tournament every year and We we show up to like play hockey and like most of us I play hockey there's like a case of beer or whatever. Every time we play hockey there's like four or five bottles of bourbon and like that's kinda like what we kinda drink in the locker room. And There was one of these tournaments we played in, man, there was like I'll try to find it for you and then spin the phone around. And like there's like some weller, some
Dan and Bob: Yes.
Alex Derthick: stag, some old rip, some old there I mean, there's just stupid bourbon up there.
Dan and Bob: Looks like a nice breakfast.
Alex Derthick: Yeah, and that's just like Yeah. For like eighteen guys.
Dan and Bob: Beautiful.
Alex Derthick: So it's just yeah, I mean it it was just a There's a lot of good bur I mean there's like there's some Taylor I mean there's all sorts of stuff up there. There's a Pappy twenty three, some old Scout back in the day. I mean that was some good stuff. And that was a hell of a a hell of a tournament. William LaRue. For some reason that's a bottle I can't get my hands on. I don't I don't know why.
Dan and Bob: Bob's got one. Which? I didn't hear it. William LaRue. yeah. Bob's got one.
Alex Derthick: Really?
Dan and Bob: Come on up. I've got the I've got the new cured oak too, so if you come up you need to swing by.
