Dan and Steph: Good evening. Welcome back to Bourbon Brass and Beyond. Good evening, everyone. Episode 99. 99 Problems. The bourbon ain't one. Bourbon ain't one. tonight we're doing a little bit outside of bourbon. It's technically Tennessee whiskey. But it is a bourbon, by definition. But thought tonight we'll just kinda it's been almost a hundred episodes and in about thirteen months. Yeah. So we're doing it doing a little bit of recapping as well. Yeah. And I would say Well no. Exactly one year. Today? My first podcast was October fifteenth. wow, look at that. Yeah. You You posted it on the fifteenth, so I don't know if you posted it that night or the next day, but I can't remember. Yeah. It was so short though. I mean it was like three minutes. And it was horrible. It was Well, I wouldn't say that. I would just say, you know, if you were f figuring things out, but yeah, I would say for those listeners who are newer, there are Ninety nine episodes to listen to. So go back to the beginning. I mean you started off with a banger. Your first one was a Van Van Winkle lot B. Yeah. It was a lot B. You guys were definitely starting with the the heavy hitters, I would say. So Yeah. So tonight is a heavy hitter. We're going to do the Jack Daniels ten, twelve, and fourteen. These are all batch one. So All right. Well we'll see, right? Yeah, we'll see how these go. Got some dust on them. I haven't opened these. I take it back. This batch number 10 is technically batch two. These are new dusties. New dusties. Dusty from construction around the house, most likely. Well, and I was waiting to open these. So it's trying to get Paul down to do this and then right. So one thing I was noticing as I'm looking at your old episodes, so yeah, you did a lot B, you did a Jack Daniels Toasted Barrel, then a cream of Kentucky, then you did a nineteen sixty two very old fits. yeah. then we did a Thanksgiving episode, an eighty three Wild Turkey. your sixth episode was GTS versus T H H versus W L W and I only know the last one there. Thomas H. Handy. right. Bit that's a bit hot for me. What's GTS? George T. Stag. also hot. Yeah, it is hot. And that was the William LaRue Weller? Yep. Yeah. Well that's a good one. Then you did the CYPB and E. H. Taylor. A nineteen forty four Old Crow. A birthday bourbon and then the old granddad. So those were the fur your first ten episodes. I think you were hitting it. That was the nineteen seventy five old granddad. Yeah, 'cause we have a couple of different ones up there, right? Yep. Yeah. And then you only you actually you started doing the podcast at the bar. Yeah, down here. Right over there. you did a rattle and snap eight year and then an old force or That rattle and snap eight years, good. You either you do love that one. That is the best mouthfeel I think I've had. Yeah, you love that one. It's buttery. And then that was it for that bar. And then you moved up to the the top bar. So are we gonna Air this out a bit or are we just gonna dive in? Got the 10 year This is the 10 year Mm. So the 10 year, this is batch two, it's ninety-seven proof. Okay. Ninety seven proof. That might be might be all right for me. Yeah. Now the one thing J D was saying last night was that all the Jack Daniel stuff comes from the top floors. So it has the most interaction with the weather and temperature. Mm-hmm. So y you're gonna get the deepest flavors. Well, they are very dark. Yes. So that's very noticeable about them. Unless it's just yeah, it's not just the packaging, it's they're dark. So that nose is turning really nice. It's it's hard to not wanna swirl it, right? Yeah. It's like fun. But I've been trying to do the just You wanna see the legs though. Yeah. Super Super Legs. Super legs. I think the biggest part about the early episodes was the unknowns. I mean, I'm still having technology issues, it feels like, like the last one we just did with JD and dude Poole Like I was getting this horrible echo. Mm-hmm. And we don't use headset or you know, like earphones. but I had not had that before. Right. So I was I feel like I was speaking and then I had to wait to the echo finished and then I could continue speaking and then I then it's just like, Well, I don't really Yeah. Yeah, that's rough. It's like when you're calling someone and it's doing that echo thing. It's just so annoying to try to have a phone conversation with someone like that because you're just like, Please make it stop. So this is like a mix of the banana from Old Forester and the Tennessee whiskey from Jack Daniels. Now, this is the first drink we've had today. Mm-hmm. Getting a little bit of the rye pepper on my Tongue. I mean that initial taste for me on the tongue is not not burning at all. I think the first, you know, that first swallow I'm getting yeah, the a bit of that rye. And then I don't know, it's not doing a lot for me. Taste wise. Like it's not giving me like a lot of complex flavors or anything like that. See, I think it's nice and I I'm getting those caramels but I'm also getting a lot of that that like that maple, that that char, the Jack Daniels. Lincoln County process. I would say it's drinkable, but it's not for me it's not that enjoyable. It's but it's easy to I would say it's pretty easy to drink because it's not giving me any kind of ethanol, it's not giving me any kind of burn. It's just not really exciting. I got more orange flavors on that one. As the as the flavors are layering. I got Yeah, that second sip was really nice. I like it. Good. Get a little more a little more spice. I was just I was just gonna say that, yeah. Got a little spicy. Yeah. So what was our episodes? Let's see, ten So after you moved to the upstairs bar, it looks like you did Heavenhill, Grained Glass, and an Old Fit Seven. Then an Eagle Rare Flight, Buffalo Trace, Mash Bill number one. Yeah, we did everything in Mash Bill number one. And you guys did a Rock Hill Farms, Almer Tele, a Blanton's, and a Buffalo Trace Trace Mash Bill too. Right. And the only thing we didn't have for that was a Hancock's reserve. Okay. And I have one now. You got one now. Yeah. Okay. Well, I guess you'll have to revisit then and add it in. Yeah. The next one, Pappy and Weller. wheated mash bill. Sounds nice. Yep. Then you did the handy Ceserac and Foolproof. A Rye Mash bill. Buffalo Chase Rye Mash Bill Yep. Then you guys did an old forester flight and we no, that was us. I was in there. Old Forester flight and the winter storm because we had a really bad really bad storm here in Ohio. Of course. Yeah. Who would figure? Northeast Ohio. next one, WB Saffle, Wild Turkey Dusty, and a Russell Reserve Barrel Pick. Then an old soul cast strength. And Ass Pocket Whiskey debuted there on episode 20. I forgot about that old soul. Have you gone back to that? I think that was that was pretty good. Yeah, and I've got two of Mm-hmm. Yeah, where where are we? We had a different bar. No, yeah, they're they're over here. Then you did a Pappy 15, which I mean Pappy Fifteen. Hmm. That was that was tough to beat. Yeah. then we had a little chat about Dave Matthews and did the peerless single barrel pick. And Old Forester 1924. Next episode was Four Roses. I'm not sure what seven hundred and seventy five million means. so Four Roses was sold. that's right. Okay. Michter's Micter's Toasted, a small batch, and Shanks. Which is a Mickters. Yeah. MGP. and then episode twenty six, pretty cool. You had Morgan from Winthrop Liquors. Yeah, Morgan Proctor. That was our first time we had a guest or a remote guest. Yeah. That was pretty cool episode. Yeah. And he sent up Some phenomenal samples. Well, he sent up that Jefferson's rye 21 year, didn't he? Yeah. The presidential 21-year Rye. Which I have deemed I'm gonna finish on my 50th birthday, which will be coming up in six months-ish. Ish. Okay. then you had an episode that included the Van Winkle 13 year Rye. And then we went down to Logstill and interviewed Wally. Yeah, episode twenty seven. Probably still one of my favorite experiences of all time. That was good. And everything went right for that one. Everything went right for that podcast. There was no no technical issues for that one. No, it's perfect. and and I felt no pain that day. Mm-mm. No, that was drinking it up. Good day. It was a good day. Had a lot of a lot of different sips. from there you did the America's forty seven and the Monks Road. was that single barrel. Okay. Yep. 'Cause we came home with a bunch of bottles. Yes we did. the next episode, we're continuing on. We've got the nineteen forty-eight JW Dant and a Hundred Proof bottled and bond. Or was that the bottle? That was it. That was all okay. The next one we did a do they call it Remus? Remus? Remus. Remus, Experimental Two, and an O. That wasn't real. You weren't excited about that. But the OADE was the OADE is fantastic. Right. And then we did a wood for reserve. Double double. Yep. And I also did that chocolate malt whisper. Mm. Mm-hmm. I believe that was the time I was tricked into thinking that it was gonna taste very chocolatey. And but it just tasted like bourbon. But you could taste it. That's all that matters. I got the chocolate notes. Good. then we had a a knob creek. Nine, ten, twelve, and twenty-one. I'm not a knob creek fan. We weren't loving it. Okay. No. then we had Ass Pocket whiskey, lot five, plus a few more. That was the twenty year. That was my favorite Ass Pocket whiskey. Yeah. I really, really like that one. Of course, a a twenty year, how could you not? And when we talk to Derek about it, he's like, Well, you know, that somebody sent us the sample and you just couldn't not. Yeah, he always right. He's always choosing the one that tastes the best, which happens to be the the oldest or most expensive. Yeah, and that was a dickle. That was a George Dickle. A dickle. Yeah. A dickle. Okay. so we're gonna open the twelve. Twelve. All right, while we open the twelve. Episode thirty four was a Whiskey Wars, Wild Turkey, and a Russell's Reserve ten and sixteen year. My nephew Noah came up for that. Yeah. Well you're you're a fan of the Russell's Reserve, right? yeah. Yeah. Then we then the next one, I believe I was on this. This was a Jefferson Presidential Twin Oaked and an Orphan Barrel Fang Pursuit. Yeah. Okay. Followed by Nashville Barrel Company and LGA plane crash you talked about the plane crash. Yeah. Yeah. I guess I better finish my 10 year. Think this is just one of those instances where I feel like the smell is so much better than it tastes. Yeah, that's possible. This is my Sabaro pizza. I don't know. Smelling that in airports for so many years, I don't know that I can Yeah, a different experience for you. Just always felt tricked by it. It smells so good, looks so good. Missing flavor. So now we've gone into twelve year territory here with the Jack Daniels. So these are essentially the same, just aged longer. Yes. Yeah. And they are batched, so it's not a single barrel. Okay. It does ta it does smell a bit different to me. Yeah. I was gonna say that it actually reminds me of that ass pocket whiskey. Hmm. I'm picking up a little bit more of like the smoke, like the the char. Okay. On the nose. Yeah, maybe that's it. No ethanol. I'm not getting No any ethanol. So which for just opening these. It's great. Well, this is batch three. So the twelve years batch three. This one's a hundred and seven proof. Okay. This is a lot better. Yeah. There was actually a bit more a bit more of a spice flavor on my tongue than the ten, but the the finish on this is much better. And I get but I think the the sweetness, the caramel the caramelization like softens the spice. Yes, you get that spice, but then that s sweet caramel just coats. I'm I'm getting almost like a little bit of marshmallow on this one. Hmm. And I haven't looked up the tasting notes on any of these either. So I Yeah, just what you're tasting. Yeah. Hmm, that's good. I feel like that that one got a little more spicy. A little bit more spice. Yeah, a little bit more in the layers, but it's not like one spot. It's just like a sometimes you get the spice all and it hits right on one spot. But I get just a mild spice but all over. Mm-hmm. But I'm also getting the sweetness all over as well. That's nice. The legs are fantastic on the thing for me is just getting hotter and hotter. Interesting. That first taste was real smooth for me. But I think the lingering aftertaste is really good. Yeah. I think the nose is even getting better too. I That one's impressive. Really good nose on it. Impressive. Okay. And the only thing I had really had in college was I I I mean, w we drank a lot of Jack Daniels in college, but sometimes the Gentleman Jack, single barrel Jack. But that was about it. I mean this is like a ninety day difference. Right. I mean you're probably drinking what a four year a four year Right. Four to six. Yeah. No, that that was never my thing in college. Not a bourbon girl. I'm only a bourbon girl because you have brought this into my life. This all this all this joy. I brought all this joy into your life. It is true. Yep. So back to the episode 37. You did an Elijah Craig 18 and barrel proofs of A120 and A125. Yeah. Well then you did a new release, Old Forester 117, High Angels Share. And the next episode was a bomb burgers, a Ben Holliday's soft red wheat, and some surprise pappy. Something. And then you had Jason from the Cleveland Barrel Hunters on episode 40. Yeah. And that was really fun. That was fun. Yeah. He brought some great single barrel picks that he'd done down. We did that River Roots. Yeah. We ended up doing like six or seven. You guys had a great time. Six or seven. Six or seven. And he left a couple. there was that one rye that Bone Crusher Rye that was really good too. probably the f one of the first ryes that I really liked. okay. Interesting. Yeah. Yeah. Would you say before you started the podcast you were a little bit rye averse or you weren't really I would say that I I don't like pepper on food. No. I don't like like hard spice on things. I I feel like I have a sensitive or a palate, so I I like I pick up on flavors real quickly. Yeah. I I say that with like smelling things as well. So I I think that when something's overpowering to me, I don't I don't enjoy it. Right. so ryes have always historically with me been very, very peppery. Yeah. I'm not a fan of that. But those double oaked or things that are like ultra aged. and then there even like Wally's Kentucky rye that he's done or that Van Winkle rye. I mean those are fantastic too. Well, I like my buzzers roost rye. Yeah. And I we haven't even done a podcast with those, have we? Maybe you have with other people yet. Yeah. Yeah. I really enjoyed that. So after that we ha you did the Monkro Monks Road we talked about Monks Road Boiler House. Bill Samuels Jr. That's what it was you talked about with Wally. They they had that dinner and whatnot a great guy. I mean Yeah. And Bill Samuels Jr. is just such a nice guy to talk to and great stories. great experience for you. Yeah, and I just love his story. You know, he he went to college for engineering, wanted nothing to do with the whiskey business, went to NASA. He said that the not one project he worked on at NASA actually succeeded. So he became an attorney. Course. Ended up not wanting to do that, so he went back to Makersmark. And his dad had him get an office out at the airport. Yeah, sort of banished him. So that he wouldn't fuck up the whiskey. Yeah. And that's a direct quote. Yeah. Well, I feel like, you know, a lot of dads probably feel that way. You know, they don't want their sons to mess up what they've worked so hard to build. It's hard to pass the torch. Right. A bit of an ego. Ego thing. Don't fuck it up. Don't fuck it up. speaking of, yeah. So now we have two with driver's permits today, as of today. Two boys. Right. So my son, of course, he's sixteen and a half. And he got his permit just in February. And so we're s slowly working through his hours and drive time. And yeah. Your oldest got his today. Yeah. And he's fifteen and a half. So he's on track to get his license at age sixteen and hopefully mine is on track to get his by the end of the year. I really hope. I really hope so. But Yeah, but it's all coming quick. Yeah. We got these two now and then in two years in le in less than two years we're gonna have two more getting theirs at the same time. So it's just never ending for us. A year and two months. Right. Yeah, towards the end of January, early February is when they're gonna be able to get their permits. I mean not not this year. Right. Next year. Yeah. So it's gonna be gonna be wild around here for the next six years. Yeah. Grown up it goes by fast. So we did the Jefferson's Presidential eighteen year, which of course is it's a Weller juice. Mm is is one of one of my faves for sure. That's you that's your bottle. Yeah. You did a whiskey war double oak and cigar blend. Cigar blend sure you that. Did you the cigar blend was the carnuba wax? Okay, so you weren't like a huge fan of that. Well, but I l do love Carnuba wax, but it smelled exactly like Carnauba wax. And as soon as I said that, everybody's like, my god, you're right. So so the verdict is you enjoy drinking it or you weren't sure? I have to revisit. I would have to revisit the the cigar brand. you got a E. H. Taylor single barrel versus a benchmark single barrel. Then you did a seal bock and old elk wheated bourbons. Yeah. And then an Elijah Craig fifteen versus eighteen year single barrels. So that was Nick. That was Nick and I's first podcast. Okay. And that one was still at the upstairs bar. Yeah. So we we did the Elijah Craig fifteen versus the eighteen, 'cause I got the fifteen. No, I'm sorry, he got the fifteen and I had the eighteen. Yeah. And we had both tried our own, but we hadn't tried the others. Right. And then we decided to do Well, step back. We did a warm up before we actually recorded an episode. Then we did the fifteen versus eighteen. Yeah. Then we did a second episode. We recorded it that day of the the spring versus fall old Fitzgerald. Okay, yes. Episode forty seven. So I had a ten year spring, he had a eleven year fall Old Fitzgerald. And it was like a nine day difference in how they tasted. And if you listen to d to Dan and Nick, they're both pilots, so they almost have like their own little twin speak. episode forty-eight was Ode with Dan Hacker. That was a great that was fun. The Ode is great. we've got a thirty-three and a thirty-nine. Is that all we have? Well you have the I have a sample of the fifty from Calvin. Yeah. But it's also since it's a fifty year That's also going to be on my 50th birthday. I guess it's gonna be a banger. It's gonna be like my 21st birthday. 21 shots. I'm gonna be puking all night. god, I didn't even do 21 shots on my birthday. I don't know if I made it to 21, but I was sick. But you know what? I still made it to my 9 a.m. class the next day and a counting class. And my teacher said to me, She's like, You almost look like you're turning green. I'm like, well, last night was my 21st birthday. I went out. She's like, why did you come to class? I'm like, I don't know. I'm a good, I'm a good girl. I'm a good girl. So as you open that 14, let's see, we've got an You did an old tailor, old swagger, and another new ass pocket whiskey, because they're always coming out. Then you did a Yellowstone. Unveiling Yellowstone bourbon. That was the 19 was that the 1971? I'm not sure. it is. A journey through time and taste. Yeah. So that was when we so this was after we went to Revival Vintage Spirits. I'm wearing my Revival shirt. Yes, we support. And it was for my birthday. And we got that 1972 old Taylor and the 1971 Yellowstone. Happy birthday, Dan. And that Both of those are fantastic. look how dark this is. But that nineteen seventy one Yellowstone is probably that's in my top five. Mm. Top five bourbon set. Wait, so this one? Or that? The the other old one? Yeah, the my gosh, look look how low it is. We probably should have bought the other twelve or twenty or how many however many they had at the time. They had they got two cases in, right? Yeah, and they didn't have any more. Somebody found in somebody's basement. Lucky lucky. Yeah, that's such a fantastic bottle. I mean, it really Blows my mind on the taste on that. So we're moving into Jack Daniels. Fourteen. Jack Daniels, fourteen. This is a batch one. And this one is one hundred and twenty-six point three proof. Whoa. Okay. So I guess the batches are important because the batches might taste different, right? So a batch one and a batch two, a batch three, they might all taste different from each other. But do you really have a preference, whether it's a batch one or a batch three, just in general? I don't know enough about the batches. Like I'm I'm not that much of a Jack Daniels aficionado that I've gone through and tried all the batches. Yeah. And this is actually the first time I've ever had a Jack ten, a Jack twelve, or a jack fourteen. okay. So this is a a new one. A new one for you. Now what I've heard about the fourteen is that you would never guess that how strong it is. Well let's hope so. Look, I think my nails are actually bourbon colored. Yeah. See that's perfect. I got my nails done. I asked for gold. But I feel like they're not gold. I feel like they're bourbon. Which is like gold. Well you're right. I mean it costs as much as gold, basically. that's got a great nose. Yeah, it smells really good. Ooh I would say that's hot. That's hot all the way through. Yeah. I would say it's hot, but I would also say that that is super that is like super molasses thick. Well, I have to say, once it reached its final resting point down my throat, then I feel like I can enjoy it. Yeah. I did not enjoy the The heat from the moment it touched my tongue, even going down my little Kentucky hog, if you will. But the but the aftertaste is really nice. So what I'm gonna be curious about is whether it gets hotter with the second sip or if it gets more peppery or it gets sweeter. Because the other two I felt like did get hotter the more I drank them. Which makes me a little bit scared. Okay, I'd say that one definitely got better. Yeah. Like a I'm getting more of the banana and less of the marshmallow. But it is like super sweet. Kinda wanna chew it at the end. Yeah. Like a little bit like it's on your teeth. Yeah. That's That's good. Yeah, I would say even though it it's hotter, you you can tell it just feels more complex and it it's giving you more of those flavors. At least it's giving you something. I feel like the ten wasn't giving me anything. The twelve I was just so sew on. But this one yeah. Yeah. That's nice. That's nice. You think there's a different in the color? yeah. Mm. I really like that flavor. I don't know how it lost all of its spice and heat after the first taste. Well, you kind of desensitizes all those nerves. Whatever it's hitting, but yeah, that that third sip. Mm hmm. yeah. Really good. Ooh. Yeah, I'd say. I think I think the problem becomes then you have this very similar product in a twelve twelve ten, twelve, and fourteen. So at what point would you say, Well, I'm gonna choose the ten? Because I would say I'm never gonna choose the twelve. It's the price point. That that fourteen is I I I don't I don't mean to purchase. I just mean you have all three of these. But at what point would you pull for the ten instead of the fourteen? I mean probably never. Personally no. Right. But if there's a big group. Right. You know, you probably put the ten out, let everybody drink from that before you go to the twelve and fourteen. Yeah. Used for comparison purposes. Right. No, I I think that you know, almost all of my bottles are open, so it doesn't really really matter. But I think if you were shopping for it. Well, the price is definitely gonna matter. Yeah, the the ten price point is a lot more palatable than the the fourteen is. Well if you can even find the fourteen, right? I mean, can you find it? You can find it. You can find it on unicorn, you can find it at different places, but Well, I just mean if you were if you were at the liquor store No. Chances are not good that you're Well you're not gonna find any of those. You're not gonna find any. No. Well, how much would the ten be MSRP? I'm gonna look that up now. If it'll even show if it's in the state. 'Cause I don't think it is. So it came out on that special drop. So the Jack Daniels fourteen year old. Is one fifty. Right, okay. The Jack Well, the ten and the twelve aren't even showing, so Would you say the ten would be more in like the eighty dollar range? Or even the hundred? I remember right. Yeah. Yeah, 'cause I think it like one hundred, one twenty five, one fifty. But I mean If you can get it. Yeah, it was that big special drop day and they only did six bottles of the fourteen and I think it was six of the twelve and then maybe twelve of the ten. So you have to you have to camp out at your local liquor store and get in. You have to tater. Tater. Okay. And what is that what does that mean exactly? I mean why do they call it a tater? I don't know. That's with how they refer to the guys that camp out and But it is you come. Is it like a potato? is that what it is? Maybe. Maybe. Sounds right. Okay. So then You did a Bond and Lillard, WB Saffle, and a Russell's Reserve thirteen. Now I do remember there was some a lot going on around this Russell's Reserve thirteen, right? It was yeah, you really wanted to try it. Is it up there? Yeah. Russell's Reserve Reserve. there it is, right above your head. You keep it close. But that was the Russell's Reserve thirteen, not the forty fifth. So the the forty fifth anniversary Russell's Reserve thirteen, which just came out this past year, is what I have. And that one is fantastic. That one's better than that other one. Then we did the Liberty Barrel Club sent us up some samples and we did Mm-hmm. We did a little collab with them. Yeah. Memorial Day episode, faithfully crafted with Wally. Yeah, we talked about his two bourbons they came out with for the archdiocese. Right. And those were those were really good. Yeah. Well, he's always got something new coming out. Every time we're down there we're buying bottles and bottles. then we have a Friday with Rich. Yeah, and Rich was gonna try to come tonight. because of the ryes Yeah. Rich loves the ryes He does. Okay. And we did the whole night of ryes So if you like ryes, episode fifty four, check that out. then you did an E. H. Taylor Four Grain deep dive into Buffalo Traces. Because we went down. I drove. You went down right. Yes. You. Yeah. And I took You took other people. Calvin and then Mike and his nurse friends. Yes. And went down. And I was like, y'all are crazy. I was up for like thirty-six hours. Like you have fun. I'm gonna go to sleep. And then we went to Tom's Foolery. yeah. That was great. Such nice people. phenomenal people. Love that. We got theirs over there. did the did barrel pick with Jason. Yeah. At Tom's Foolery. We did two barrels. We did the eleven year, the thirteen year. And then we did then we mixed it. So we didn't. So that's the red, white, and blue. The America's two fiftieth. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. That was fun. Then you did with Jason. Yeah, we went over that barrel pick. We we did the same. Right. Okay. Well, you then it says Jack 10 year. Michtere's 10 year and peerless. So Nick, I guess I did try the 10 year, because Nick brought the ten years. Okay. Nick brought the Mickters 10 year, the peerless Henry Craver 10 year. But it could have been the Jack could've been a different b batch. Could have been. Yeah. But that hen that peerless Henry Kraver was phenomenal. Well, did you get one then I assume? I don't have one. 'Cause remember we went to Peerless when we were in Louisville the last time I asked yes they're like, you know, they're not gonna come out with another one until April. yeah. But even so, if you can get that that bottle that is if it I would like to find that bottle. Mm-hmm. Then you did a Blanton's bourbon showdown, which you don't even really like Blanton's, but maybe the gold. The gold. the Derby bottle was a was a the Derby bottles. And they're so cute. But it was it was a select, you know, so it was it was a good bottle. It was really good. And not just the straight Normal Blantons now. I mean, it's nothing. It's not your thing. Nothing special. You did old old Raleigh. You did a podcast with them. Yep, sent up some samples. Yes. And then you did a maker's mark wood finishing, Cellar Aged. Yes. Who brought over the For National Bourbon Week. Yeah, Mike brought over the Cellar Aged. And then we did the Star Hill Farms, the 2026 tw Star Hill Farms. that was that was a that was a banger episode. Yeah, so that's episode 61. And then episode 62 also, it looks like you have a bunch of things here with initials that I don't know. Russell's Reserve 15. Okay. Pappy 15. GTS. George T. Stag. And Elijah Craig fifteen. Hm. Okay. And we did a double episode that night. Two recordings. So that's episode sixty two. And that was Yeah. yeah. I think I remember that one. I was like, Ooh, Dan, hey. so wait, yeah, I'm trying to figure out when you moved down to this podcasting space. And it looks like it was actually during that Jack 10 year one. Or when you did it with Jason, yeah. So it was around episode fifty seven you moved down to this space. Yep. 'Cause we had just gotten our shelves done. Mm-hmm. Finally. Yeah. Well, I mean 'cause I just mean because you had pulled down the ceiling with the boys the previous summer. So we're talking about maybe two years ago at this point. At this point, yeah, but not from here. so we w we were quite a while without a ceiling. Yeah. But it's all fixed now and we have our beautiful bourbon display. Jacked up the house. Inch and a half. Jacked up the house. Yeah. Had to put these posts in, so it's like, what are you gonna do with that? Well I got a few ideas. And then we have our contractor, Lenny, who just phenomenal woodwork. I mean So he was able to match the woodwork to the rest of the house. This part of the house was built in the eighties. Mm-hmm. which has got fantastic woodwork, but he was able to match the entire Well, I mean, you can see everything behind us. So all that existed was that one single beam all the way to the ceiling. That's it. So all the shelves with the bourbon are new and these two posts that look exactly like the original one. my god. thing I must I'm it's in the way. It's in the way of my swinging arm. I'm starting to get starting to get Italian. yikes. Okay. Where were we? Okay, then you did a Caleb's crossing father time. David J David Jennings from Caleb's Crossing Whiskey Company. He's rarebird one one sent us A bottle of the Caleb's Crossing. Very nice. And still working on finding time where he and I can talk and talk about that bottle as well. That'd be cool. Yeah. Yeah. I'm gonna write that down in the notes. Set up a time. Set up time. Try to be your become your secretary. you did the father time, precious small batch and a willet. Was that our willet? That's our willet. Our willet. Well, the other Willet bottle got sold. A twelve year. Yeah. The other Willet bottle's gone, so I don't know that we were super excited about it. It was okay. It was okay. I'm not a Willet fan, so Yeah. moving on to the Russell's Reserve twenty twenty six barrel pick. Yep. Versus twenty twenty four. And then you did a Buffalo Trace Drop about OHLQ and Old Grandad Spectacular Episode 65. So when we say old granddad, we're never talking about recent old granddad. We're always talking about old bottles that we're done. Although I did get a recent old granddad. you know. I got an old granddad one 14. Okay. And the an old granddad did actually come back now with an age statement. Okay. So th that's interesting. How was it? I don't remember. I I didn't try it. It's it's a little hotter, I think. Well, I mean you're talking about a you're talking about a fifteen dollar, twenty dollar bottle of bourbon, correct? Yeah. Okay. episode I don't know, Baum burgers, America's forty seven again, 'cause you do like that one. Another Caleb Crossing and the Sleeper. What was the sleeper? Command something? the Commander's Club. Commander's Club. Yeah, that one is a fantastic bottle. Okay. Yeah. That one is right here. That was when we were all gotten line. And I didn't get the Heaven Hell twenty two. And Frey Ranch. Yeah. Four and five grade. And then Fourth of July episode Heaven Hill ninetieth. Russell's Reserve 135th. That's that's Eddie Russell's forty-fifth anniversary with Turkey. And a Star Hill 2026. Caleb's Crossing. Episode 69 was a 1792 extravaganza. We did the entire 1792 lineup. Wow. Well that's a lot. Six? It's actually eight. Ooh, eight. Okay. Did someone else bring over a couple more? Yep. Mm-hmm. Okay. episode seventy, you did the George T Stag twenty three and twenty five. Yeah, twenty twenty three versus twenty twenty five. then you did the E. H. Taylor cured oak. You're an oak fan. Yep. Then a Weller foolproof barrel pick. At Buffalo Chase. okay. That's when you went down with with Jason. Yeah. Jason Kern. For not your barrel pick, but for someone else's barrel pick, you got to, you know, join in and do that. That was really cool. then you did then you talked about the Weller and Eagle Rare barrel picks. Yeah. Okay. You did the Van Winkle Rye, Oak and Age, Commander's Club, and the Birthday Bourbon for episode seventy four. That was for Chase's birthday. Okay. We we did some other ones too. I bet. When you get a whole group of people here, it becomes there's a lot. And that's the plan for the hundredth. For our hundredth episode is gonna be Yeah. Full seating. Everybody get a ride home. Yeah. Uber's gonna be on fast aisle. We did the Jefferson's Wood experiment collection. That was cool. Episode seventy six. That was interesting. Then you did the Paul Sutton and Green River. Yeah, that Paul Sutton. That always I always like the Paul Sutton. That was that leathery one that I had you smell the other night. Then the fifteen year wheated bourbon wheated buffalo trace experimental. That's a good and blade and bow twelve. That fifteen year experimental is really good. Didn't you have did you didn't you have two bottles of that? you sold one? No. I never no you I only have one. that it was the single oak project that god. there's so there's so many oaks going on. we have an Ev Ev Evernorth Penelope thirteen Oak and Age and more. So the Evernorth Essence, CJ brought those over. And they were really good. Episode eighty was with Buzzard's Roost. We went down to Louisville and met up with him and did a little podcast with him. He's very cool and personable and we both got to thieve our own bottles. Super fun. Episode eighty one with Preston Van Winkle. What a great time. Yeah. The a learning experience as well. 'Cause we recorded an two hour episode and after one minute and fifty seconds the audio just stopped. Right. No longer existed. Silent film. Well, I still think if you can get somebody who reads lips, you can have it all transcribed. But that would be a whole thing. But I mean, what a great experience that was. So saved the Pappy twenty three, hadn't opened it. Yep. And then opened it with Preston. Yep. We did the Cigars. Cigars. Outside. That was a lot of fun. Saw a lot of his old, like old papy historical you know, bottles that belong in a belong in a museum. That are unopened. Yeah. It's a good time. Really nice. Really nice. okay. After that we've got a peerless cream cheese cinnamon roll. Yep. That's what we one of the bottles we came home with from that trip to Louisville. I mean, how do you how close do you feel like it it tastes to that? I get it. You get it? Okay. then we did a review of the twenty twenty six Old Forester President's Choice. Yep. So that'll be episode eighty eight if you want to hear about the gold foil. And the eighty three Wild Turkey. Yeah. I I think I personally, just from tasting both of them, I I think I like the older one better. What do you think? I like the gold foil. Then you guys did a stag 2026 releases. Is that a dog? Well, this is our dog Hamish, and he has found his way downstairs. Bye Hamish. Dogs. Dog stinky. Well yeah. So that's the past year. This so Hamish, I've I've decided Hamish if Hamish enjoyed a bourbon, which he doesn't, he would be a a what is it, Thomas handy? He would be a handy. He'd be a handy because he's very he's spicy, he's crazy, he's wild. That's him. And the other dog Our other dog Banksy, which is his brother, he's a Pappy twelve. A lot B. He's a Lob B.
