Dan And Bob: Good evening. How's everybody tonight? know, we do this at night. Right. We just had time change. My hope in my head was to get here before it was â But yeah, here we are. Here we are. It's dark. â all right. That's kids stuff. it's tough. the time you get dinner, by the time we had to go back and pick her up and here we are. well, good evening. â is Knob Creek. Looking forward to this one. Got quite the lineup tonight. It was OHLQ Tuesday drop today. Nothing big out. That was quite weak. I didn't even go. No, but they had the old Forester 1924 on the shelf. It's now on the shelf because they got... Chalet got five cases. Geez. Of old Forrester 1924. This was the thing we were always promised, that that was gonna be a shelf for eventually. We've never, I think it's been twice here before now. We've had two weeks where it was released, but it's not been around right, for old Fitz bought on the seven years, same way. So. They got the Woodford Reserve double double out. They put that on the shelf because they got five cases. Oh, did they? Oh, I'm have to go get one. I did not go this morning, so I might have to go get one. 200 bucks. Listen, after tasting it the other day, it feels like it was money well spent. And like I said before, in the last one, my mom and dad got me for my birthday last May. That's why that one's on the shelf. That, to me, is the difference there is that's not a... But they had... What else did they have today? of Bomberger's but they only got three bottles. That's the, yeah, we don't see those all that often. So it's tough. And it went to the person right before me. Oh yeah. So it always goes. Always. But other than that, I did find some Weller green. I mean, they the 1.75 liters. I haven't seen that in a long time. Yeah, I'll agree. I think it only hits here once a year, maybe. Yeah. Did you get one? Yeah, got a couple. Oh, did you? Yeah, it's such an easy well. â yeah, you did. It's so big. so funny. That limit one. No, well, went to. OK. Got our stickers though. Yeah. At each place. Yeah, did you? Yeah. So everybody's got our stickers. Hopefully that spreads a bit. Yeah. And then just came home. We had. We had dinner, to run. Middle son broke his toe three weeks ago. And so we had to go get x-rays, sure it was in the That's gonna say, that stinks. Always something. Always something. Knob Creek tonight. Knob Creek. So we went back and forth which order we should go in the date order. Should we go in proof order? We've decided that we're going to go in order of lowest to lowest to highest proof, I guess here, right? Which puts strangely 21 early in the mix. So, so we're going to do 12 first. Now the knob Creek 12 hundred proof. Everybody talks about that's like the best, the best bottle. You got the twice this one smaller. I don't know. That's what I was looking at when we first started. Is that a 700? 750 is what it's labeled. That's what I could, that's what was my first thought, it was a 700. Not as much glass in the bottle. It's something. It's gotta be. It's really weird. I just, I mean, all the others are identical bottles. I guess I'm surprised that there's a different one floating around. And this one's, this one's a couple of years old. Maybe that's what it is. So I, yeah, I opened it and. walked away from it. Walked away. Well. Let's get after it though. I think we cheated and smelled the 21 because we were both really curious. So we opened the bottles before. A couple of them were not opened yet, but instead of trying to fight... 21 is definitely a fresh crack. Yeah. I've had it for a while. I was going back and forth with what I was going to do with it. here we are. That one you got in PA. That was... Yeah. So we I don't know if we've ever seen it I think maybe it was here and I was gone for a week or something I couldn't get one here. It was everywhere in Pennsylvania It was it wasn't sitting on a shelf, but it was sitting at the register and I grabbed the only one on the register and the kid goes I guess I'll have to go get a couple more from the back. So I mean it was in Pennsylvania. So I think they were only asking 220 when I sat in Ohio was 250. Yeah, so yeah Well by tax as well. I ended I think by once my taxes it it was too fit. Well It would have been more here, guess. But I would agree with that. I think it was, I already over that way anyway, so I figured it was an easy lift. mean, it's like a I get a little oaky. I get a little tannin. I mean, getting a little funkiness like a little. Yeah, I think that's one of the knob Creek kind of it's got a little funk on it. So. â I get the tannins is what I pull out of this is the, whatever that funk we were talking about. Right. get a lot of the, I get of the rye flavor. Yeah. think it's a little more bitter for me. Yeah, â think that was my first take on this as well. And it's 100. Crafter for full for quality and full flavor they got yeah â and I think I tend to lean away from beam. Yeah, I beams one of those â it's some funk on it. So I mean, that's Like it's almost like a grass, a hmm. â I caught it. almost got too much of a nose full that time and... Hmm. I get a lot of the rye grass. agree. Great on it though. Yeah. â yeah. And it's lasting finish for the, â for the I agree. 100 % agree with that. I think it well. Yeah. But I get almost all of it in the back of the mouth, the back of the tongue. Yeah. It's not sweet like a lot of them. Right. think that was one of things I noticed on this one was I felt like when the nose on this was pretty darn sweet. Right. I guess maybe that's just the age on it. Going to this one, I guess. as I spill. now we're going to the 21. This the one I think is the these others are I don't want to say always. â this was a OHLQ release this year. But this is the one you see these is the one I'm most interested to try. And do it while we still have a pallet. Yeah. It's blown out. Yeah. The cast strengths. So you said grassy. I would say earthy and I It does smell a little sweeter than what this one was though still right I don't get the grass on this one I get I still get a little bit funk, but it is more more earthy a little bit of Way more mellow. Way more mellow. Much, to me it's much sweeter. Yeah. there's funk, but it's not. It's much pleasant. Yeah. â yeah. I was just going to say it's much more mellow. I guess would have been the way I would have called it, but it's not overwhelming it was here. It's, â it's not like bitter grassy funk. It's or wheat grass. You know, it's more of a. I think you said it best with Earthy. I tell you what, it's got a long aftertaste on it too and it keeps changing. It's like that, aftertaste is like, remember when there was like that cherry Nyquil? It's kind of the aftertaste that I'm getting, a... Okay. That's definitely. still on Earthy, I guess I â know how else to describe it. Yeah, I don't know. It's bad. Let me be clear, but it's just different. Yeah, a bit of like a smoky. â And I always think I get more of a smoky flavor from Beam stuff. Hmm. I don't think it has near the legs as with the 12 head. I don't I mean between the two this one the flavor and the nose is much much better. Right. And this one I do get like that orange marmalade that tastes like it was rye. Which is funny because I tried that Pursuit United. Yeah, didn't have it. Didn't have it. â no. That's a future one. And it is good. Yeah, it's really good. Okay? Listen, flavor holds like crazy. I'm It's always of those ones where you always hear like there's a limit to how much is worth spending, how time is worth spending in the barrel. But this seems to have worked out pretty darn well. Right. Yeah. I mean, and it's still, I'm still very consistent. Yeah. Front to the back of the tongue. Hmm. Yeah, I like it. better than this one. Right. again, 12 years. I think might have to try and put this up against a like a well or something to and try and do a 12 year just to see what's floating around out I mean, I â know where my going to lean is towards the well or but like well or 12 is usually the weakest of the group to. Right. And that's a neck pour too. Yeah. So I don't know if that's going to change as it opens up. We'll leave it, come back to it. this is the nine year single barrel reserve, â proof. Okay. Now this one's been open for â of years. Not neck pour, not a fresh crack. how much you want. That's good. and the reason is, is because I think I'm just not a bean fan. Yeah. You know, that's, it's not my go-to drink. Yeah. I'll put it that way. It's pretty mellow as well comparatively. would say just on the nose. feel like it's and maybe this is the that it's been around for a while and it's a single barrel pick too. Yeah, that's true. I get a little bit more of a dark sweetness with this agree. that's it's much more mellow. It's much, I agree. That's gonna be the same way with this next one too. So this, we go up to 120 here. That's what this one was. Yeah. Real strong bite on the front of my tongue when I taste it, but it's same flavor profile. I would say that, but I would say it feels thicker. It's like a thicker viscosity to me. Listen, they always could it be how many years has it been around? Is it just old enough that it? Well, that or is it that it just it wasn't proofed down at all? Yeah, well, that's true, I guess. You know, I think that had a lot to do with it, but. I'll tell you the nose is pretty darn good on this. It's warm, not like a spicy hot like â but it's pleasant. a little bit of that burn as you exhale. I mean it's different in proof but I feel like it drinks differently. So this one doesn't have an age statement, right? I don't think so. The OHLQ pick one? It does not. Small batch. Single barrel select. Wait. Oh, it is there. Is that four years, four months? It's so dang tiny. Oh, yeah. Oh, no. You went into a barrel in 2015. So it's 10 year. Eight, 27, 2015 is when it's really weird. This was bottled in March and it came out. mean, just under 10 years. Yeah. Yeah. Nine years and seven months, six months. Alright, we're ready. you Oh, look at you. That was a horrible pour. That was a horrible You just gotta commit. It's hard when you're pouring in a bottle that's not yours. Yeah. You know, because you're like, I don't wanna. Oh, come on. That's why we have a sink. God for the sink. Okay, so this one... see what you say. think we're going back to the grass. thought there was caramel on that I caught on this one that I haven't had on any of these others. maybe a little butterscotch. OK. â This one just on the nose is much different for me. So, Yeah, I'm getting a lot more butterscotch. Is this one of those OHLQ trying to go off profiles? is this off profile, which is, â don't know. So go from, this is 125.9. I mean, this will tell you the Rick House floor and everything I wanted to, so. It's got some heat to it. But it is so thick. It's like maple syrup. Yeah, it was. I don't think it's as hot as this one was. So I don't know. Maybe I'm just getting that burn on the Tip of my tongue. Oh, in the back. The finish lasts forever. You own all of these. I agree. Yeah. Yeah. And I feel like we just got thicker and thicker as we went. Which makes sense. See, I don't get the earthy on this one that I did on these others. â And I get maybe a little bit of the anise, a little bit of the licorice, just like a little bit. I mean, there's. Oh, I'm getting that. Yeah. It's got some bite to it, I guess. Yeah. Like if I were going to light my breath. Oh, this is the one. This is the flame. We talk about this. I'm always back and forth on cash strength. barrel strength, whatever. mean, I don't know. 126 is it is, â guess. You get a lot of that, you get more rye flavor, I think, on the Knobcree. And yeah, see, I'm getting that like that Prilosec factor or whatever you call it. Indigestion-y reflux. with this one. I I had it out of the gate with this I think 12 for me was... the least, met the of my expectations. I thought it was gonna be better than that. Everybody talked about the But for me, just get that â grass taste of it. I would have to say, it's probably for me, it's a toss up between the 21 and the 9. Yeah? I mean it... I mean, I like the flavor on this, but it is so ethanol-y and so hot. The 21's really good. See, and then I'm coming back and I'm getting some of the grass on this one. I get more of the sweetness and the taste in the palate, but I'm still eating that. Like I just mowed the lawn. It's my favorite smell. I can't wait. It's lawn season almost. I saw somebody was out mowing. I saw somebody earlier. Listen, I need to clean up. Like I'm going to have to blow out. It won't be this weekend, but blowing out the beds and cleaning everything up. got it. Sticks. I got to clean and me and the kids are going to be out there working. Yeah, I've already had them out there working one day, but it's just a start. Yeah, well, it's still so wet out there too. Yeah. down into the 20s next week. â yeah, listen, that's why today was the last day you were gonna have a chance to do it, think, because it's supposed to rain so much. â know, you always talk orange marmalade on some of these. This is the first time I think I've ever felt I tasted it like this on that sip. one other one yeah curious to come back to it and see what I Mmm. It's mellow. It's the most mellow of don't get any of the grass. I get like the, you know when you brown, you make caramel, you get that little bit of the browning on the edges. Like you're actually making legit caramel with sugar, and you get that little bit of that browning smell. that's what I Just just smidge of burn. Yeah, just a sweet. Yeah. Yeah. I think coming down to proof is a little bit different here, but. But still, I think. the not. It's got all the same. Flavor profile just way more relaxed, I guess like it's. I don't know. â the age itself mellowed. Yeah. â yeah. Well, I mean, time to barrel. â Charcoal, guess, will do that over time. This and again, guess. Price-wise, it's the most expensive. Age-wise, it's the longest. It shouldn't surprise me that this becomes the best of these, Right. When you talk about how 12 has a great reputation and 15 has a great reputation, 21's pretty good. Yeah, of all them, 21's the best to me. Yeah. best-knows I think too. And it's not like a dark brown sugar, it's more like a... like a light natural sweetness. â know, not from sugar, but from just the distillation and the grain going in. Yeah. The box that comes in is pretty darn legit too. Like we didn't bring it out, but a nice presentation as well. yeah. think it's all the same profile, but one just makes it bright. Like it evens it all out. you mix each these, you come out with this plus some, And I am getting orange. Like on this finish, the finish is lasting. And it's the orange is getting brighter and brighter and brighter at the top of my mouth. Yeah, it's drinkable. This is nice. This is yeah. And maybe not a flavor profile that I would normally reach for, but yeah, what it is. Yeah, yeah, it's really good. And I think this is one of those ones when you have around, you have people come over and when you see a 21 year statement on something, it's yeah. Yeah, like them. Yeah, real good. thank you. Thank you. Appreciate it. Group project. Yeah. These are the best ones. Well, if anybody any comments â or â us you like of the Knob series or if we missed a bottle that you think would... â better display what we should be tasting. Please let us know in the comments. Like, subscribe, and please, any feedback, it all helps. So we appreciate it. Everybody have a good night. Have a good night. Thanks.
