Dan and Nick: Good evening. Welcome to Bourbon Brass and Beyond. Tonight, ⁓ Nick's joining, and we're gonna do a 10-year drink-off. how's it going? Good. How are you? Good to see you again. Good to see you. Good to be back. Yeah. Yeah, we're just coming up with an idea. I thought why don't we grab a few different 10-years and we'll go through some of them. So So we have the ⁓ Jack Daniels, 10 Year You said batch five? That's the batch five, And that one hasn't been cracked yet. Correct. Yeah. That one has not. There's a little nibble out of the other two. Yeah. ⁓ And then we're doing the Michter's 10 and the peerless Henry Kraver Yeah. I've been there's been a lot of talk about that one. Yeah. So I'm I'm really curious how that one's gonna be. Yeah, that was I I think distillery only. I don't think they sent them out. ⁓ I was down down there in Louisville, I think it was the week after they first came out and I didn't know if they'd have any more, but I think the guy told me there's like twenty five hundred bottles or something like that. Yeah, it was a really large, really large batch. so yeah, they still had ⁓ after the first week. I think there was like thirty cases left maybe when I was there about a week after, so grab that. And then the 10 Year wasn't from the same trip. They didn't have the twenty six tens out on the Mictors, but I was able to get the twenty six. And yeah, have not gotten into the the Jack Ten yet, but that's the ⁓ the five like so try that one out as well. ⁓ All right. I'm Playing with technology tonight the first time, trying to get some good camera angles and a couple of comments we got were we wish we could see the bottles better. Okay. So there we are. Here to accommodate. Yeah. So we we'll start with the Jack Ten. We'll give this the first go. ⁓ And you have which batch is your ten that you have up there? Do you know which one it is off top of your head? I know I'll have to check. I I'm not super on all the This is batch two. That's two, okay. So I think this might be the most recent one, batch five, but Besides the ⁓ batch one, batch two on the fourteens, I get kinda lost with some of the other ones, but this one is a real pain here. There we go. All right, we're getting somewhere. All right, the Jack 10, five, ninety-seven proof. Thank you. So I haven't cracked mine yet. I was waiting for a buddy to come up, come down from Ashtabula. He and I spent a lot of time with Jack in ⁓ so ⁓ Probably a very different jack. like we all like Yeah, at some point in earlier years. I'm actually picking up a little corn. It is kinda it does have a little bit of that corn sweetness to it. Not a lot of ethanol at all there. No. It is sweet. I've heard rumors of a fairly consistent on the palate of what some people I've heard talk about. And I'll see if maybe say what it is after the fact, but But yeah, the nose is is sweet, very nice. Mm. That's nice. It is nice. So I'm I am picking up a little bit of the corn. Maybe a little marshmallow. But I'm There But that's a first sip. Yeah. Fresh crack sits kinda it it changes there. Yeah. After about ten seconds or so. So what I've heard several people say, specifically on this batch five, was there was a heavy banana note to it. I don't really know if I get that here. I think I get that maybe on the tip of the tongue, but not on the back of the palate. Yeah. It really does have a long finish. I mean it sits there for a while. I would say now this is my first drink of the day, so I it does taste a little hotter than ninety-seven to me. I would agree. Yeah. I would agree. It tastes a little bit a little bit hotter than ninety seven. yeah, sometimes you wonder he said he believed the whole neck pour thing. I don't know. I can tell you having tried the Mickters, is the neck pour was totally different than the next two, right? So So yeah, kinda hard to say, but I don't know if I really actually, you know, when I went back on the nose and now I almost got kind of a little bit of that banana on the nose, which I didn't have before. Almost like that ⁓ like candied runt kind of like banana. Very nice. It's got a lot of sweetness. A lot of sweetness up front. I'm getting more I'm getting some banana now. Yeah. I still in back of the palette. For me, I still don't know if I actually get it on the palate, but when I went back after the first couple sips, I I I do kind of have it in the glass now here too. And I'll say, like if you Can see Get some really good Yeah. Really good legs on that. Yeah. It does drink very it's a very full flavored Yeah. Yeah, it ⁓ sorry, I'm gonna get distracted ca the the finish really does sit there for quite a while. Yeah. Yeah, slightly hotter than ninety seven, I think, as well. but again, yeah, I don't know, something we come back to because several of those ten years that I've opened up as well at first were kind astringent and a little bit warm. Yeah. And they're only at you know, the ninety-fours like we'll get into next year, but they tend to just really open up after after one or two pours. So very full, long finish. I get a lot of that that corn sweetness too. But yeah, once I did get into it, second or third sip, I did pick up a little bit of that banana. Just a just a touch of that jack flavor. You know, that tennis Definitely you that hint, that vibe, but yeah. Like we said, very, very different than the Jack that we all started with at some point. Right. That's good. Yeah. I I I like it. like the ⁓ the glens as well as we were just talking about the previous episode. We got the the Tom's Foolery Glen. Yeah, gave us those for for going up for that barrel pick. Yeah. That was a great episode you did with with Jason and sounded like you guys had a had a blast. ⁓ we had a great time. and just up there at Tom's Foolery was so nice to us. and like I I I ⁓ Steph and I were talking today. I'm like, I learned so much up there. absolute great experience. Yeah, that's awesome. Sounded like a great time. Yeah. Got a couple barrels. ⁓ the ⁓ these were from from that trip. Yeah. Awesome. Yeah. So you can fit two in a Tesla Model Y. Okay. All right. Good know. 53 gallon barrel, so it was pretty excited about that. and this is our first episode with getting all the shelves up. Yeah. ⁓ we just talked about that as well. Uh-huh. And the you just added the the glass shelving there, yeah. Uh-huh. it looks awesome down here. Super excited. Yeah. Super excited. So we're yeah, happy about that. very cool. Now, so this is Michter's ten. Yes. And I'm I'm pretty stoked. Be trying this one. Michter's 10. This is the 2026 ⁓ 26A barrel 266. and these are always this was yeah, 94.4. That's I don't know if they all exactly end up coming out at 94.4, but most of the tens are right at that that 94 mark. And Michter's does the low barrel entry proof. You know, so their their lower proof bourbons still have a lot of flavor. I'm I'm excited for you to try this one. just the the nose right off the bat. Yeah. That's nice. I'm getting fruit. I'm getting that fruit forward. It's a very, very fruit forward. And what amazes me is like w even when we did that Tom Foolery pick The the first barrel, the first bourbon was very fruit forward. Mm-hmm. And it was an eleven year. And then the second one, which was a thirteen year, was a very leathery. Okay. And my the second one was was was my favorite. The first one was right Yeah. and that's when when Jason was like, Well, let's let's try ⁓ together and then you're like, Holy yeah, holy cow, this is fantastic. Yeah. I was honored and ⁓ excited to get on the list for for those and can't wait till we have those in. Well we're well yeah we're we're gonna we're gonna try those and I w I was laughing when I saw you pouring out of the those bottles. Well we'll he's like, Well they asked him like you wanna take any home? Like, yeah and i w everybody was out of containers and like well I've got two water bottles right here. Dumped them out and where we went. You gotta do what you gotta do. Okay. Right off the bat I get a dusty vibe. It's got that dusty little bit of dusty funk to it. ⁓ sugars. I'm not getting as much fruit as I got on the nose. Same. But ⁓ wow, the palette, the finish. It just y the initial sweetness that you get, that dark sweetness, stays the entire time. It doesn't start to turn to a bitter, it doesn't start to change. That's why I I just I was gonna keep quiet on this one because I've I've tried it and and had a few pores out of it. I just wanted to you to your own thoughts on it. Yeah. Yeah, that's nice. That's real nice. Yeah, I mean like you mentioned, you know, they do the low entry proof. A lot of people, know, you think two hundred dollars, whatever, you know, in that range for a ten year and they have a problem with that at ninety four proof ten year for two hundred dollars. But the proof on these just doesn't matter to me. They just don't miss with the flavor. You know, and It's always kinda hard to say, you know, they are single barrels. I i ⁓ it tastes so much older than ten years to me. I don't know. You know. Yeah. It's the only one that I have, so I don't have another bottle to compare it to, but but yeah, I ha the first time I opened it up it was yeah, very it is very fruity on the nose, but then you really don't get that on the palate. ⁓ No, that's fantastic. That's a And it does it really does. It like you mentioned, it holds that finish the back of your tongue for a really long time. And it How holds that it does have some yeah. It does have some real viscosity it. Yeah. You know, I didn't get this at the distillery. ⁓ when I was there they had the twenty five rye out. they hadn't actually announced the 26 rye, they just recently announced, know, the the release of the 26 ryes They had the 25 ryes. but I was able to work a trade deal for this one and was very happy with that. I just keep coming back to that nose 'cause it just smells so good. Yeah, you do get a little bit of that dusty. Kinda reminds you that old dusty note. In terms of the fruit, I I kinda get a lot of that. ⁓ for me it's it's an orange zest type fruit is what I really get there. That has been I opened it up I think maybe a week or two ago, had a few pours out of it, and that's been one that I've really had to restrain myself on going back to. Right. Because I keep you know, and I have to remind myself that I got so many other bottles, you know, and Yeah. But it's one that I and what I really love is when you get those fluke bottles. Something you're not expecting, but you know what? You pick it up. picked up that Augusta. single barrel. Mm. Mm hmm. that OHL Q pick. Just because it had been sitting there and nobody was buying it. I'm like, you know what? Let me pick it up. It was a wheater I like Wheaters. Is it is it an eight year wheater? It doesn't really have an age statement on it. but it it definitely drinks it drinks ten years. I just couldn't remember for some reason I thought it had a an age statement on it. But I do remember seeing those, yeah. But that That was fantastic. Yeah. I mean we can try that too in a little bit if you want. I guess if we really have to. Yeah, we'll we'll go through these three. ⁓ we really have to try things like I I I think I mean it's just that you know how it goes. Yeah. We we end up Well what I said. I got my ⁓ I had my transportation squared away tonight. I I figured Yeah, you know, let's ⁓ let's be able to enjoy it. It's nice 'cause I don't I'm not with kids this evening, so don't have anywhere I have to run, I don't have anything I have to do. It's a beautiful thing. So one ⁓ Yeah, the Henry Kraver, Peerless, ten year. And I believe this is the first ten year. I think that was the big the big talk was this was the first ⁓ ten year since the the revival. Yeah. it does have batch one on there, so I don't know for a fact, but I guess maybe they plan on doing more batches in the future. and yeah, w I'm not a hundred percent sure. Whether it was distillery only or not. At the time when I was down there, I believe they hadn't put it out anywhere. It was only at the distillery, but it may be getting distributed. But ten year, hundred and seventeen point six proof. like mentioned before, it was a lot of talk ⁓ online this Yeah. Now my my with Peerless is a lot of times it drinks hotter than And I think some of that has to do with it's a sweet mash. Mm-hmm. of their stuff is a sweet mash. So there can be a c inconsistencies in between the batches of what they do. But at the same time, it's always something unique. the I mean from their ⁓ I mean the they're double oaked. love they're double oaked, you know, everybody talks about that. ⁓ I think the the high rise the one that I've really wanted to try that I haven't tried yet, but There a little bit. A little bit pricey. you know, their pricing's pretty aggressive, but usually not disappointed with with what I've had from them. You know, so and we've had that same discussion over ⁓ I don't even remember what you and I did on the last the last episode. ⁓ we're d I think ⁓ the Elijah Craig, the fifteen and the eighteen, that was the last episode that we filmed together and it's the same thing. It you know, the price tag is the price tag. You don't have to love it, but at least at least you do feel like you're getting a a quality product. Right. ⁓ now the legs on this one. Yeah, I see you you can just wait forever 'cause they're not even gonna fall. Yeah. Yeah. It's got great color to it, ⁓ just looking at the bottle from from over here as well. Yeah, some great color to it. Mm. So I get a lot of dusty on this. Yeah, that one almost does have that, ⁓ even more so than that that Michter's. Yeah. Very so you get more of the caramels, you get more of the butterscotch with this. That's very rich. It is very it's very full, very rich. I think it drinks right around its proof, probably at one seventeen. I think it drinks maybe a little under that. Yeah, I get a lot of that that kind of funky dusty note on the nose. A little bit of the grape note. It is a little grapey there. It does it almost kinda reminds me. Eagle Rare always gives me a a that huge grape note. A little bit of that in the background. ⁓ yeah. Mid palette kinda has a little bit of a spice to me. There's a you like so you kinda get that sweetness, that little caramely up front. And I get just a little bit of that spice in the mid palette. And it does that stays for a long time as well. Yeah. Really stays and lingers. Kinda for me it almost goes spice, and then kinda on the back end of the palate gets a little sweet again. Right. You know, ⁓ do you have any pick up any of that? And I'm getting it back on the front end of the palette too. It's like that it's got ⁓ such a good viscosity that that sweetness comes back up forward. Yeah. Yeah, that that that was almost you get that sweetness right up front, a little bit of that spice and then yeah, it it it fades out with a little bit of that sweetness for me as well. I will say that all the peerlesses I've had, this is my favorite. Yeah. I like I said, I haven't had a ton of them. I got a single barrel barrel pick up here and I've got another small batch. I it but this is by far yeah. I mean I think they think they knew they had a a good product. They it aggressively. but it was it was flying out of there. So I mean ⁓ that's what I believe if I recall, if there was twenty five hundred bottles. And I was there a week after the release ⁓ and I there were thirty cases left, I believe. So they had gone through roughly two thousand bottles in in the week just at the distillery. So Wow. Yeah, that's good stuff. The interesting thing is you'll never get that exact same taste again, right? 'Cause that Yeah. like that. Yeah, I was I walked in there not expect I I I didn't realize there was it was such a large batch. I thought, ⁓ they're not gonna have it. I was ⁓ waffled back and forth, you know, on the price. Do I want it? Do I need it? ⁓ naturally when I got there and it was there, I'm like, Yeah, you know what, I've that that's a good buy. I've heard a lot of good things. Let's let's go for it. Yeah. That's a good buy. I was I was very happy with that one. Yeah, also. Yeah, I like that one. Well, all right. I think We should probably start with the Augusta. yeah, that's I even ⁓ yeah there it is. Yeah. I didn't even see that when I was looking at the shelves here. So I think I need one of those ladders that rolls. ⁓ okay, yeah. I was gonna say, you know, at least a little hand picker, but I do like that. ⁓ it to the list of your projects. Yeah. little old library ladder. Yeah, that one sticks around for a long time This one I think to me was the most surprising I've had in a long time. Right, yeah, so there's single barrel of weed in. Yeah, like you said, I don't see an age statement on it. I think I was probably thinking think I was thinking Buckners at first. But who makes it. Because they have, yeah, the the Buckners have the whatever it is that's ⁓ eight, thirteen, whatever yeah, so I think that's probably what I was in my in my mind. But yeah, I do remember seeing the white label ones. And this is a hundred and Yeah, hundred and sixteen point nine proof. Doesn't drink anywhere close to one seventeen there. No. Like you could drink this like that's yeah, it's it's got a the mouthfeel on it wa very soft. Yeah. Very silky. Nose I would probably guess it's a wheater off the nose. Mm-hmm. Some of the weeders at Cask Strength, I feel like, for me personally, tend to get very spicy, but I don't really get any of that. No. We had a actually Blaine had given it to me. I know you might even have a sample of one of the but ⁓ the Blue Note ⁓ wheater. I actually really like it, but it did have a lot of that spice in it. you don't get any of that here. Yeah, that's nice. That to me is is fantastic. It's almost that's one that's so easy to drink for me personally. don't feel like there's that one real standout note in it. Right. And so it's almost one of those ones that you're like, I just want to drink something good and not be dominated by one particular note or one particular flavor or And what's interesting is I got a lot of panta grape on that one. You know, like I I actually like that Fanta Grape soda grape grape pop, that was what I got on this one. It has been a long time since I would have had Fanta Pop. I'm not much of a pop drinker, but Yeah, I don't I don't personally a grape note on that one, but again for me, there's nothing that really jumps out, which is almost the nice part about it. It's such an easy drinker. It's not dominated by one note. Yeah. Yeah. Way under one seventeen. Yeah, you could drink you could drink that real easy. Very nice. So now now we're gonna throw ya for a little bit. All right. Now if you want to keep with a ten year comparison, I have a Tom Foolery ten year cask strength. Or we could go to the ones we did for the barrel pick. I'll let you decide. You you you call it. I I kinda picked the ten year ⁓ lineup here, so I'll I'll let you I'll let you pick our next one here. So here's a ten year, 114 proof cask strength, Tom Tom's Foolery Distillery. barrel twenty-six, bottle fifteen. It was distilled in April of twenty fifteen and bottled in March of twenty twenty-six. ⁓ So was just ⁓ just Fresh. What part of Ohio again, am I mean? This is in Burton, Ohio, which is up towards Middlefield. ⁓ Amish Country. Yeah. they've there since twenty two thousand nine, two thousand eleven. They've been there for a while, but they got their permit. They were second spirits permit issued in the state, but they were the first bourbon distillery. Okay. So ⁓ They they predate Middle West and High bank. So this one was distilled on the original Michter's Pot stills. Pot stills that ⁓ were made in nineteen seventy six. They went bankrupt in one. the bought the stills and then ⁓ sold in two and ⁓ eleven. Okay. And bought them. That's when they bought them. Yep. Okay. And Dick Stoole, who was the master distiller for Michter's, came over and helped them set up. So the Beams and then actually David Beam actually interned at Tom's Foolery. okay. Who is now the distiller at Michter's and now has those dis pot stills back. Okay. So Tom's got bigger pot stills. Yeah. And those original Michter's ones went back to They ended up going back. Okay. All right. And he learned how to use them at Tom's Foolery. So I'm getting a lot of corn on this one. Yeah, there's a Yeah, that reminds me a lot of that j that Jack knows at first. Yeah. You get the corn. Zero zero ethanol there. Like nothing. like dangerously crushable Yes. So I'm waiting for you to what you So this this tastes exactly like what I was tasting from when while we were emptying barrels. I y the the texture is actually gonna remind me that that Augusta. No proof to it. Got a very silky, velvety texture. Yeah, you can see that in there as well. The legs are fantastic. I almost get the ⁓ I kinda get a little bit of the the darker, like darker sugar up front. little bit of that caramel really just really good classic bourbon flavors. Yes. Right? I mean for me personally one of my all-time favorites. And if I were to describe for my taste of what I think is quintessential caramel vanilla, the hundred proofer black label Old Foresters. That's my I if you put me on an island and you gave me one bottle, that would be my pick. almost reminds me of just the that very classic I get that dark dark sugar. And the dark sugar stays on the palate. Mm-hmm. You keep getting that flavor. And traditionally for Tom's Foolery, they do that sixty percent corn, twenty percent rye, twenty percent malted barley. Okay. Or very close to that. And they do a hundred and eight proof hundred and eight barrel entry proof. Okay. So it's a lower barrel entry proof. It's ⁓ it's the old school bourbon making. Yeah. A twenty so you it's a sixty, twenty, twenty. Yeah. So that's a little bit higher on that malted barley side than a am I thinking correctly? Yeah, and I think that's where you get more of that that darker sugar. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, that that's really nice. ⁓ what did you say the proof was on that again? One fourteen. Yeah, I mean very similar to that Augusta. I don't get nearly that proof. I get yeah, that that mouth feels really nice, really silky, velvety texture. I get that that kind of dark sugar up front and then just ⁓ is ⁓ An eleven year. This is a hundred and Hundred and also one fift about almost one fifteen per. You is it the same mash bill? I believe so. On the nose I almost I almost get a little bit more of that rye on the nose. I get more of a floral. You get like floral okay? More almost fruit. I the So this is bottle one. This is the red bottle of the red, white, and blue pick. Well, I already put my purchase order in before even trying ⁓ I told you, I said, you know what I like, I know what you like. I watched your episode with Jason and I said, I think I need this, but now I'm really excited ⁓ to get that set. I mean that even has less proof to to it than the the ten year. I mean Yeah, I don't get as much of those kind of dark dark sugars up front. It's a lighter sweetness up front. That's good stuff. Yeah. now must save just enough so you can mix it. Yeah. This is the white bottle. This is gonna be a red of the red, white and blue. So this is the this is hundred and eighteen proof. This is a thir almost thirteen year. It it's got some more color to it for sure, seeing them side by side there. That actually That almost reminds me of That almost reminds me of a Russell's. I kind of get Russell's, it's hard for me to describe because it sounds disgusting to some people, but I get that sharpie kind of smell on the nose. It's that funk. It's the that's kinda turkey funk. Yeah. Yeah. It it has that kind of that sharp little turkey. Yeah, that was immediately it brought me to some up some of those Russell's bottles there. When I compared it, I mean look at the legs on that. A and you know what? Honest to God, when I just said that nosing it, I completely forgot that I had mentioned to you when you talked to Jason on one of the previous episodes and you said we were just talking about the 2003 Russells. Yeah. I completely forgot, but as soon as I smelled it, that was the first thing that came to my mind. But now as soon as I said it, I'm like, remember when when I smelled this barrel, I I that that was my favorite. That the that that you if you didn't tell me what it was, I would think it was an old turkey. Yeah. Yeah. That's fantastic. And you know and again we literally just talked about it upstairs. That two thousand three Russells that you have. Yeah. You know. I mentioned the stranded on an island with the old forester, but if budget wasn't also a concern. The two thousand three Russells would be my So far my ⁓ forever bottle if I could only have one, but that's fantastic. And it's from Ohio. Yeah, I mean I mean it it just to me it just blows my mind that So Now. This is the the real experiment. Yeah, that's gone. This is what sets it up. Let's just roll it in. this is the eleven and the thirteen. Blended. Small batch. Blended. Extremely small batch. Yeah. I still get a lot of the that that same turkey funk the nose. It really the nose to me still just dominates the thirteen. ⁓ Yeah, you almost get the ⁓ that's nice. The nose still for me is a hundred percent the thirteen, but on the palette changes, you get a little bit less of that turkey taste on the palate. the again the the eleven, the the texture and the mouthfeel just that Again, it was a a lighter sugary, you know, the the ten kinda for me had a little bit of those darker sugars right up front. Yeah, that's really nice. Yeah, I almost get the mix of both. I get the nose on the thirteen. That same really light creamy texture with those light sweetness up front. But then yeah, I I think with the thirteen it does it just sits there a lot longer than the eleven did on its own. Yeah. I mean it just I still have legs on this and I haven't cut this glass in a couple minutes. I'm three quarters of the way up the glass and like you said, it's just it's not really moving. Yeah. What I do, I I love that. you know, from Ohio. I'm a big fan of what Middle West has done. ⁓ I really like ⁓ a lot of Middle West products. What left his cell phone on? It's a live show. Toll free call. It's a live show. ⁓ Yeah. ⁓ but yeah, I love that for us, right? ⁓ we get we get some love and ⁓ that is fantastic. They're they're both ⁓ all or all three of ⁓ in their own way. Very, very Yeah, I can't I can't recommend it enough. And you know, I'm not getting anything for it. I just say everybody go visit Tom and Lianne the Herbrucks are fantastic people. They will they will talk to you and talk about whiskey. ⁓ and they have a fantastic product. Yeah, and and like you mentioned when you you were talking with Jason, there's a lot of people that have a great product, right? But you want to meet great people, support great people. You're there to learn and you know hang out and meet new cool people that are Yeah. And that's the bottles are cool, but Right. The experience and you know, we have our group of guys and we've all gotten close through this hobby and you know that that's the fun part. And and so that's ⁓ that's really cool. Yeah, it sounded like a blast. Yeah. No, it was a that was a great time. Yeah. ⁓ those are good. ⁓ When do we ⁓ when do we get those sets? Yeah. So ⁓ it's it's supposed to be the last week of June. Okay. Is when they're gonna come out. let's see. ⁓ We are we're gonna get ⁓ for the fourth of July. So that's that is the plan right now. and if we have to, I'll mean I'm gonna go up and I'll go up and help bottle, so well ⁓ shy away from a road trip, so if you need some help, you know just let me know. And it's for us it's it's only like an hour. I was gonna say it can't it can't be more than yeah, hour. Yeah. So you have not tried the four grand yet? I have not. So I'm curious how this will be. Now I've given out samples, ⁓ we tried it Probably the night I got it. Yeah. to me, well we'll we'll see. Yeah, we'll see. Yeah. Now right, it's about ten years since the last release. Is that correct? If ⁓ and the ones had a little bit more age than these new ones, is that correct? Or I believe so I heard. And then I heard thirteen years on these, but you know I don't think the bottle says. I don't think they After ten years of age. So these are ten. This is a ten. Okay, yeah. I th and that's what I thought. Well, we're consistent tonight. ⁓ That's true. We're doing ten years. That's what I thought I may have heard was that this new release was ten the previous, you know, about ten years ago, whatever roughly were maybe a couple years older than that. So that's probably where I got the thirteen. I think that's what I've heard. After ten years of aging. This impeccably balanced bourbon embodies the character of the man that would expect no less. big fan of yeah the ⁓ Taylors. I think small batch is one go to a lot. If I really just kind of want to drink and I don't really want to think about it and I don't really know what I'm in the mood for. Like a small batch is never a bad choice for me. several barrel proofs. of the single barrels I've had have been fantastic. But yeah, this is a totally new. So this nose to me now. Is so much better than it was when I cracked it Really? Okay. Yeah. I've also already had Five different bourbons. Yeah, we're we've gone through a few. Yeah, that's that's actually much better than when I first cracked it. Doesn't actually have a tailor nose to me. No. I'm a I'm getting a very dark sugary forward, like a like a grape or prune or something fruit forward ⁓ nose. Yeah, I I would agree. I almost get like not not too off from where you are, but yeah, like a date. But I would almost like a a sweet raisin. Like a s yeah. So yeah, they're hundred proofers, right? Yeah, bottle yeah, bottom and bond, hundred proof. Yeah, that's to me, right off the bat, that is so much better than when I first tried it. Yeah. Maybe my palate's just adjusted, but that's really good. This is very again, to to repeat, drinkable, extremely approachable. You know, not that a hundred proof is ⁓ is getting up there but ⁓ yeah. Very light on the palette, not in a bad way, but just very, very easy. And like you say, we've been through several several pours here. Mm, that's nice. it it really does not and again it's it's a different mash bill, right? But does not remind me of a lot of the tailors that I've had. Yeah. Whether it be barrel proof, single barrel, small batch, ⁓ That's really nice. Yeah, I get a lot of it it's still it o the nose to me almost matches the palette. just kinda get a lot of that a little bit of that ⁓ kind of dark fruitiness there. is actually interesting because I feel it personally for me the nose I always feel like I get something different on the nose versus the palate in a lot of things. Yeah, you but that that that one it's very rare that I feel like the nose matches exactly the palette personally, but Well, that's really nice. ⁓ It great to see that they're you know, they've been sitting on a glut of whiskey and they're gonna start coming out with ⁓ with some new stuff. I believe yeah, that's gonna be ⁓ Not regular, but maybe, you know, I th I think the cured oak they said is going to be the maybe the special. The special, yeah, I don't know one time a year. I don't know if that, you know, ⁓ could be wrong there, but only a a release for the cured oak. Yeah. Yeah. That's very nice though. ⁓ again to sound like the broken record, but you you could drink that very, easily. Yeah. And I think They have such a nice product, good consistent product, that you can't go wrong with E. H. Taylor. I mean that that's just Yeah. a nice what a nice drink. ⁓ very nice. And like I said, it's cool to see them Again, just really we know the floodgates are there to open. Right. But it's like, okay. Yep. We all know it's there and they know it's there. I don't know. Wha whatever whatever they want to release, i it seems like they're they're really starting to push it out and why that is, I don't know. You know, the the the market is changing and shifting and demand is down and but ⁓ you know For us that have done it for a while and been through the the pre COVID years and the COVID years, it's it's kinda nice to get back to ⁓ you know, things being out there and available again and and it's fun to to see that. So Yeah. Yeah. I think that's a pretty good start. Enjoyed it. Yeah. That was a great start. Yeah, thanks for coming. Thanks for bringing I mean that Henry Henry Kraver is fantastic. The Michter's ten is fantastic. Even the Jack Ten. I mean I Yeah, the Jack Ten, were probably both on the same page. Maybe not, you know, out of the three. Right. You know, probably number three, but we'll come back to it and see if it open you know, that's not to say it was bad, but we'll come back to it, see how it if it opens up a little bit because some of some of do I mean you with the four grain. Right. It's a very different experience from The first crack until ⁓ until now. So and then maybe like we we talked about, we might see if we can bump the age up on a future one and get some cool cool things that might be a couple years older. Right. ⁓ I I I I'm I'm a fan that Tom's Foolery distillery. I'm I'm a fan. Yeah. All his It just goes show you too, you know, that's The old school bourbon making learned it, you know, by word of mouth and I I think you can't beat that kind of experience. So I I'm a fan. But even that Taylor the Taylor's good. The big guys still know how to do it, right? No, they still know how to do it. ⁓ so should does that mean I should crack my second bottle of that? I thought you were giving it to me. I mean we can work something out. Hold into it. Yeah. We can work something out. Well, thanks for watching tonight. please like, subscribe, share, and follow us. You can go to our website, bourbon brass and beyond dot com. And ⁓ thank you. I appreciate it. Thank you. Great to be back. Yeah, thanks for coming. See everybody. Night.
